Deeno-saur Smart Electric Toothbrush Review

14 August 2018 by Eileen

Are you keeping track of your child’s oral hygiene? Did you know that according to Public Health England, 1 in 4 children will have tooth decay when they start school? Also, a surprising roughly 33% of children do not brush their teeth twice a day!

Since brushing and keeping track is such a chore for both parents and child, this is where Deeno steps in with their latest technology to assist us not only to monitor our children’s daily brushing activity, but it also allows children to have fun with Deeno app’s mini-games by earning coins from brushing teeth!

deeno-saur toothbrush review

Deeno-saur Smart rechargeable electric toothbrush comes with Bluetooth connectivity and a free interactive app (download the app from App Store and Google Play Store) that digitally track your family’s dental hygiene to take pre-emptive action against potential dental problems.

Both of my children love this Deeno-saur toothbrush design! It looks fun, bold and cute too! Inside this Deeno-saur toothbrush set, it comes with Deeno-saur brush, 2 refill heads (in a travel case), USB power adapter and plug. It is suitable for aged three and above.

Before you use for the first time, you have to charge the brush for 24 hours on the charging dock. Each charge will last up to three weeks of brushing at two minutes twice per day! The battery life is great, especially for taking on holiday with you. The charging dock is simple to use too and it’s not like other brands where you have to rotate it to make sure it’s pointing in the right direction. Simply place it on and it will charge.

The sonic motion brushing pulsates at up to 20,000 times per minute. There are the following modes: soft, normal and massage. If you click it properly, you will find the modes cycle through from soft to normal and normal to massage each time. Sometimes if you click too quickly, you will miss the mode and you have to cycle through again. It also offers a 2-minute timer and a quad-pacer for clean teeth.

I find that the brushing modes are very unique! The smart brush head will split sideways to allow you to brush teeth up and down, unlike some brands where the brush heads rotate.

The Deeno app allows parents to register up to six toothbrushes, which they can then use to track the brushing habits of their children. There are sensors in the toothbrush that directly connect with the app but you have to make sure you have turned on the Bluetooth connection. For the first few uses, we had issues synchronising it until I realised we did it wrong. Once they have brushed their teeth, press the synchronise button on the app to transfer all the latest details.

After your child has brushed their teeth, they will get rewards through gold coins for their outstanding brushing. My son loves the mini-games so in order not to delay bedtime, we make sure that he brushed his teeth earlier than the set time so he can play the game.

I love this idea of being able to monitor how long they brush for and by analysing the details, I am able to do the right things for my children. Especially Ms C! She is always not brushing for a full two minutes and often just going through the motions without much effort. With the data, I can make sure she will continue to do her best to brush properly.

This is a great innovative and fun product that children will love. The concept to reward children through games encourages them to do well with their brushing. I would recommend it. It is available through their website https://www.deeno.com/ or on Amazon soon.

This August, Deeno is running a Kickstarter campaign to help them to raise funds to improve the brush functionality, increase the features on the app and also to support the purchase of more stock to continue selling. With the funds, they will be able to offer improvements with:

  • smaller head for the little children
  • app compatible with tablet devices
  • an interactive coaching feature within the app to teach children while they brush
  • a multitude of new character and games, including achievement badges to keep the children engaged

If you like what they do, please do support them!  The Kickstarter campaign will start on 28th August and pledge to receive a brush at 60% discount via RRP (48hour flash sale).  To pre-register for this deal, please visit:
