Tofuture Tofu Press Review

14 July 2018 by Eileen

What is a Tofuture tofu press? Tofuture tofu press is a simple yet awesome kitchen gadget that gently squeezes out the excess water from the tofu to make it taste even better. This tofu press simply transforms the taste and texture of tofu and saves the mess of soggy paper towels and use of heavy books to make tofu taste delicious.

Tofuture Tofu Press Review

I am no stranger to tofu and always try to seek it out whenever I visit a new supermarket. Recently, I have discovered that there are a few local supermarkets, like Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, that stocks them in the refrigerator section. Previously, I used to eat tofu only on the occasions when I visited the Chinese supermarkets in Chinatown. Finally, the UK supermarkets are catching up with the benefits of tofu which also provides an alternative choice for vegetarians. Tofu can replace eggs in quiches, can be mashed to created “Scrambled eggless”, can be simply added to stir fry, whizzed into a Chocolate Mousse and much more! If you are unsure how to cook tofu, check out the recipes from https://www.tofuture.com/.

Needless to say, that tofu is packed full of protein containing all the essential amino acids, plus iron, zinc, calcium and B vitamins. It is cholesterol free and has been enjoyed in Asia for 1000’s of years. If you have not tried tofu before, I would definitely recommend it.

You might think that by using good quality kitchen paper will dry the tofu just as well as any other technique. If so, prepare to be amazed with the tofu press! I had always dried my tofu with paper towels but after using this tofu press, I’ve realised now that I was not getting it anywhere near dry enough. The reason is that this tofu press is able to squeeze out the water and yet is able to keep the tofu well moist throughout. Cooking it is really easy too as there is no excess water splashing while dry frying! And if you are using kitchen paper to soak up the tofu, it tends to dry on the sides, but you will only end up with water trapped in the middle of the tofu. You can definitely taste the difference after using the tofu press instead of kitchen papers!

Tofuture Tofu Press containers

This compact and stylish tofu press is made of Polypropylene with three different compartments. There is a white container to hold the excess water. There is a green sieve inner tub to hold the tofu and top it with the green lid with elastic bands. It is very straightforward to use and there is no mess. You just have to be careful when removing the container out of the fridge. You wouldn’t want to tilt the tofu press and accidentally pour the water out onto you while removing it from the fridge. It is easy to remove to clean, dishwasher proof and BPA Free.

This tofu press is not cheap but it is good value for money for the long run. It should last for a long time if it is used properly. I would recommend it. It is available to buy from the list of stockists, Tofuture website and online like Amazon.
