BenQ WiT e-Reading Lamp Review

28 November 2017 by Eileen

BenQ WiT e-Reading Lamp is a unique desk lamp that has wider lighting coverage, developed specifically for the usage of monitors, kindles, tablets and other devices, as well as for use in large workspaces.

Some of you may know that BenQ is well known for the maker of projectors, LCD monitors, digital signage and speakers. It’s nice to know that they have made this specifically designed for the digital era to deliver a 90 cm illumination range, 150 per cent wider than any regular reading lamp, helping you see everything.

This e-Reading lamp comes in a well protected Styrofoam box. Setting it up is very straightforward. You do need a Philips screwdriver to screw the lamp to the pedestal base. The pedestal base is very heavy and well-made. It has rubber pads on the bottom of the base to protect the surfaces. You do have to be careful each time you move it around as it is quite heavy! They do sell a table clamp separately if you prefer to clamp the lamp onto the edge of the table surfaces. I love that the cable is nylon braided which feels more durable. It also comes with different power adaptors for the use in different countries.

This e-Reading lamp is patented brighter at the sides, darker in the middle illumination is designed to eliminate glare. When using the computer, lighting should be sufficient for you to see the text as well as the screen. But in most cases, the bright light on the display screen washes out the images. The lamp’s intelligent e-reading mode reduces the contrast glare and the reflection on your screen.

To turn on/off the lamp, simply touch the metal ring on the lamp. To enter Eye-care mode, touch and hold the metal ring on the lamp for approximately 2 seconds when the lamp is on. The Eye-card mode indicator will light up green. The built-in sensor under the lamp lighting automatically detects the ambient lighting and delivers optimum illumination for screen reading. I like this function as it responds to the environment very quickly.

The e-Reading lamp has a wide colour temperature spectrum (red, orange, blue and yellow). You can easily switch from warm tones for casual reading, to the cooler tones for concentration and work by adjusting the control knob.

The lamp also provides constant and flicker-free illumination and no more unstable lighting to harm your eyes. Ms C always struggles with lighting (mild blindness) and this Eye-care mode works perfectly for her. The lighting doesn’t just concentrate in one area and cast a shadow but it distributes evenly around her. The light is gentler for her eyes too. She enjoys having it on when she studies.

I love that this e-Reading lamp is well-made and well-conceived. With its unique curve shape lighting, its light is well distributed all around. The e-Reading lamp’s long and flexible arm is easy to adjust to the right position. It is available in Amazon in Blue, Red, Gold, Silver and Green. I am so pleased that BenQ Webstore is giving my readers an extra 10% discount using this coupon code: BENQ10EF (valid until 31st March 2018). The promotion code applies for all colours skus.

The lamp sounds great. I never heard about something like this before. It looks very nice too.
