Scholastic Christmas Gift Guide 2017

27 November 2017 by Eileen

Encouraging children to read not only broadens their knowledge, it also help to set off their imaginations! That is why books are always the perfect Christmas gift or stocking filler to inspire young readers of all ages.

Did you know that when you shop with Scholastic, you can stretch the season of goodwill to make it last all year round? Scholastic will donate 25% worth of free books back to the shopper’s nominated school or nursery for every order over £10 which means schools can add to their library or class book shelves for free!

Scholastic Christmas Gift Guide

Their best ever Christmas Bookshop is brimming with over 600 books, exclusive offers, money saving packs and fabulous, festive treats expertly selected! From new releases from award-winning authors such as David Walliams, Jeff Kinney and Liz Pichon to paperback exclusives from Michael Rosen, Antony Horowitz, Cathy Cassidy, Jacqueline Wilson, David Baddiel plus the best-selling debut children’s novel from Miranda Hart. All the books featured in their Christmas Bookshop will be significantly discounted with up to 70% off the RRP! That is such a great saving!

Mr K loves his books and he has picked Alex Rider Never Say Die by Anthony Horowitz, Game On 2018, Guinness World Records 2018 and Rocks & Minerals Briefcase.

Mr K has been reading the Alex Rider series for a while now and he even received a set of Alex Rider books for his birthday! He is slowly making his way through these. He loves action thrillers and this series of books is just perfect for him.

Game On 2018 is a book packed with amazing facts, secrets and all the hottest games! This book also includes four pages of Captain Sparklez’s interview and takes a closer look at his workplace!

Guinness World Records 2018 is once again packed with thousands of mind-boggling records, photos and feats, amazing new infographic poster pages of superlatives and with a cool new section about superheroes in fiction and fact! This is a great book to learn about human achievements to the extremes of the natural world!

Last but not least, he picked the Rocks & Minerals Briefcase which contains 12 amazing rock and mineral samples, magnifying glass, giant poster and a fantastic fact book. It is a great starter kit for young fans! The plastic tray is quite flimsy and thin. The tray might split if too heavy handed. Mr K loves it as it has so many samples in this briefcase.

If you struggle to choose, why not check out the Scholastic Christmas Gift Guide! Simply choose the age of the child that you are buying for (0 – 7 years old, 7 – 11 years old and 11 plus) and then browse by different categories.

Would you want to win books for your school or nursery? Why not tell Scholastic which is your favourite book to give to a child, and why, tagging @ScholasticUK using the hashtag #GiveABook by midnight 15th December and they will select their five favourite posts and donate £50 worth of books to a school or nursery of the winners’ choice! Good luck!

Disclosure: I received these books from the publisher for free. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.

Hello!

Welcome to ET Speaks From Home!

Hi, I’m Eileen — a mum of two teenagers, aged 18 and 17, and a passionate lifestyle blogger sharing snippets of family life, creativity, and culture since May 2012. My daughter lives with visual impairment, and our journey together has shaped much of the heart behind this blog.

What started as a small space to document family memories has grown into a vibrant corner of the internet where I share my love for cooking, crafting, DIY projects, Chinese culture, parenting, and honest product and YouTube reviews. Whether I’m creating festive crafts, exploring Chinese traditions, or trying out new recipes, I hope to inspire others through everyday moments from home.

Over the years, ET Speaks From Home has been recognised by several parenting and blogging communities, including:

* Top 20 UK Parent Blogs (2020)
* Tots100 Top 20 Blog on Twitter (2014)
* Tots100 Top Mummy Vloggers (2015)
* Tots100 Top 20 Vloggers (2016)
* Shortlisted for the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards (BiBs), Video Category (2014)
