Anki Overdrive Starter Kit Review

Anki Overdrive Starter kit comes with everything you need to start your battle and race the robotic Supercars of the future! This intelligent battle-racing game comes with the supercars that has a self-aware robot driven by Artificial Intelligence.

This was not our first time trying Anki Overdrive. Last year, we were at their Christmas event to check out their newly launched Supertrucks and we have previously review the first Anki Drive game 3 years ago. Within a few years, their technology has become so advanced and best of all their tracks are so easy to set up and pack away. Besides getting yourself the cool Anki kits, you will also need compatible devices like a smartphone or tablet to control it. So make sure you check you have the right device before you get it.

This Anki Overdrive starter kit comes with 2 robotic supercars (Skull and Groundshock), 6 curved track pieces, 4 straight track pieces, 2 riser pieces, 1 four-car charging system, 1 tyre cleaner and 3 charger heads (use for different continents). The box design is brilliant as it keeps the track flat and the cars safe for future use.

The two supercars are well made and very responsive to your controls. Best of all they stay on the track even on sharp corners. It only takes 10 minutes to charge the supercars and you are ready to battle again.

I love the look and feel of the tracks which is simple to set up. In this kit, you have enough track to design 8 different layouts (check their website for ideas). The track is flexible and fixed together magnetically. There are many kits for you to buy to design your own ultimate track, for example, speeds, corners, collusions, rails, bank turns etc.! With these kits you can create your track to go up and down bumps, over carpets and bridges, and create great racing inclines and slopes. You are no longer limited to racing on boring straight tracks!

The app is free to download via App store or Google Play. You need to register and synchronise the supercars before you start the battle. It only takes a few seconds to set up and you are guided through a quick initial training against an AI opponent on the track. The app also takes you through a series of tournaments and battles against your friends or computer (up to 4 cars at once), where you can earn power ups and bonuses and level up and enhance your car. With the game being software-driven, players have access to continuous free software updates.

We all love playing Anki as a family and it will make a great Christmas gift for all ages! It is so easy to set up and play. No more having to pick up the cars that go flying off the tracks!
