Tonka Tinys Mini Playset Review

11 June 2017 by Eileen

Tonka is celebrating their 70th anniversary this year and now their little fans can collect their favourite Tonka vehicles in miniature and play them in their new playsets. The Tonka Tinys range is a collection of palm sizes vehicles that are perfect for small scale adventures. They are suitable for ages 5 and above.

Tonka Tinys Mini Playset Review

Children can collection Tonka Tinys with the surprise blind box garages or in trios with the NEW Tonka Tinys Three Pack. The Tonka Tinys Three Pack comes with two on display vehicles and a third which is a surprise. There are over 20 Tonka Tiny vehicles to collect including Police Pickups, Quarry Dump Trucks, Helicopters, Cement Truck, Tough Cab Tow Truck, Fire Pumper, Forest Ranger SUV, City Dump Truck, Front Loader, Quarry Dump, Construction Pickup and many more are on the way to extend the fun! We have received the Front Loader and Backhoe for our blind box. Some parts of the vehicles can articulate and the wheels can turn to push along. The vehicles do feel a bit cheap and rough on some corners. I love that the garages can be clipped together on the side or stacked on top of each other to build into a tall building.

Next we have the Car Crush playset to take our Tonka Tinys on an epic adventure. This playset features a working crane, car crusher and catapult. There are a few pieces that need to be assembled but it didn’t take me more than 3 minutes to build this playset. It can be disassembled in seconds to tidy away. The base is quite sturdy. They are all connectible to the Blast & Dash Quarry playset and are scaled to play with all Tonka Tinys vehicles. There will be a larger playset coming out for this autumn. Look out for it if you are a fan!

Mr K loves that he is able to catapult all the recycled stuff onto the sorters. He thinks that they are quite fun to play, especially that the working crane can be used to grab a vehicle and drop it into the car crusher. However, as mentioned, I do find the quality not quite as great as I would like, especially the bridges are quite flimsy.  The playset and blind box garages are available to buy in good toy retailers and Amazon.

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review, however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
