Needlite Daylight Desk Lamp

2 June 2017 by Eileen

Needlite daylight desk lamp provides the user with efficient work light and much-needed daylight at the same time. It’s designed in Denmark and looks stylish and modern.

needlite review

Surveys shows that the darkness of winter is worst for us with 54% who said it has a negative effect on their everyday quality of life, 18% feel sad and depressed, 20% are more tired and have less energy and 8 – 12% suffers from designated winter depressions (Seasonal Affective Disorder – SAD). Research shows light can influence how someone feels, their productivity and even what they choose to eat, proving that how we use light in our home can have a huge impact on our lifestyles and health. All over the industrialized world people are spending more than 23 hours indoors per day on average – and that is all year round. And those 23 hours are spent in poor lighting.

Needlite comes with two compact desk lamps and they are idea for a worktop. As a blogger, I basically work from home and the lack of good quality light does affect my mood, driving me crazy, especially with all the gloomy raining days and cold winter. It also affects the quality of lighting for my photographs! Did you know that Needlite is highly suitable as a work light for photographers, art directors and other professionals working with pictures or graphics on screen and need to control the surrounding light in strength and colour? It has the exact right colour temperature of 6,500 kelvin and is not reflecting in the screen or in the way when editing.

It comes with two 12w LED desk lamps with peak at 465nm health light, power supply (EU/UK – depend on where you get it from) and wire. It is easy to set it up without any fuss. They suggest you place the desk lamp 40-50cm away from the computer at an angle of 45 degrees pointing at you. Once it is placed, the desk lamps are ready to plug in. It comes with a 2 metre long cable with a split wire of 2.9 metre (max distance between lamps) which gives you more flexibility to find a place to suit you.

To adjust the lighting, simply touch anywhere on the silver stand and hold for four seconds or via the Needlite app. At the moment, the app is available in App Store but not in Google Play. It is available for iPhone using Bluetooth. I am able to download the app via my iPad to control and track the daylight boost.

I love the matt surface of the desk lamp stands which looks clean and stylish. The touch features instantly won me over. Now there is no need to look for a button or knob to control the lighting! A touch on any part of the surface of the desk lamp stand will adjust the lighting simultaneously for both lamps. It sits on my desk very nicely with a sturdy base without taking too much of the desk area. The lamps use LED and it has an estimated lifetime of 15,000 hours. Overall it gives me the essential daylight indoors and helps to improve my mood! It is quite pricey but you get what you pay for with this quality desk lamp.

That looks fabulous actually, I’m really impressed. I don’t have IOS, so I hope the Android app. comes soon. I bet it’s brilliant not only for SAD (which my partner suffers from), but as a Blogger I see the benefits for close up photography too! 😀
