How to play Disney Princess Trading Card Game

17 April 2017 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Not long ago, I mentioned that Topps had launched their latest collection, the Disney Princess Trading Card Game, which includes live-action movie stills from the Beauty and the Beast film! Have you read about it yet?

Topps Disney Princess Trading Card Game

This new collection features all 11 Disney Princesses from the silver screen including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Brave, Cinderella, Mulan, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tangled, The Little Mermaid and The Princess & The Frog.

There are 192 cards to collect, including 144 movie story cards, 32 sparkly shimmer cards and 16 live-action Beauty and the Beast movie cards. We have almost collected them all – just six more cards to complete our collection.

As this is a trading card game, here is how you play it. Firstly, you will need the game mat from the starter pack, of course. Alternatively, if you don’t have it, you can invent your own game using the Kindness and Bravery ratings.

The aim of this game is to collect a set of five princess symbols before your opponent. To collect symbols, players compare Kindness and Bravery stats on their cards. The highest stat wins each round. Keep an eye out for the special cards in the collection, as these have some of the highest game stats. You can only use two of these cards during a game, so pick your Princesses wisely.

To play the simple version of this game, you need to turn your game mat to side number 1. Each player picks a side (Pink or Blue). Pick at least eight cards to play. We find that it is better to have more, assuming you have a big enough collection. Take it in turns to choose which stat you would like to play against your opponent. If you win the round, place your card onto the game mat that matches your princess symbol. If it’s a draw, both of you can place your cards on the game mat. Be the first person to fill in all five symbols across the game mat, or five of one symbol downwards on the game mat to win.

To play the more advanced game, turn your game mat to side number 2 and use the stand-up cards in the starter pack. Assemble your five stand-up cards and place them on the spaces in the middle of the game mat. The aim of this game is to win as many stand-up cards as possible. To win a stand-up card, players must collect five cards of the same princess symbol before their opponent. The same rules apply as the simple version of this game.

Did you know that this game can be played with up to six players? Just assemble your winning cards in front of you like the game mat layout and follow the same rules. It is that simple!

So what do you think about this game? My daughter loves it playing with and admiring the pictures. The collection is available at many stores including Martins, WH Smith, Sainsbury, One Stop, ASDA and your local newsagents.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
