Merry Christmas everyone! I can’t believe Christmas has just come and gone so quickly! Earlier this week, we went to Center Parcs Woburn Forest resort with our friends for a short break. We had booked this holiday over a year ago so for many months, we didn’t really give it too much thought. But the week leading up to the holiday we got really excited about it, that it had finally come around.
On arrival day, many of our friends got there much earlier than the check-in time to enjoy a walk around the site while we got there at the last minute. We were impressed with the check-in process where you just drive up to one of the booths and receive your pack to your lodge.
You are provided with a map and there is good signage so navigating around the resort is straightforward. Since this resort is only a few years old, everything is still in great condition, especially the lodge! It was very clean and well decorated. I also love the flow of the rooms. Our master bedroom was far away from the children’s bedroom and each room has their own toilet. Being a social media fanatic, I can’t live without WiFi. Connection was excellent everywhere around the complex and I was able to stream Netflix movies without any interruption!
Our friends advised us to book up activities as soon as possible as they can book up quite quickly. We did, and we were able to book a few activities which we spread out over the few days of the holiday.
Mr K and Ms C love their rock climbing so we booked them an hour slot. Most of the sports activities are held in the Plaza which makes it so easy to find. After a quick safety briefing, they were all geared up and ready to climb. Mr K is very competitive and he always likes a challenge. One of the walls has a stopwatch and that was his favourite as he tried to get on the leaderboard. He eventually did it with a time of 18.05 seconds. Ms C was happy to take her time and enjoy her climb.
We also took some time to play Mr C’s favourite sport – badminton and he also entered the badminton tournament. We were so proud of him as he managed to win, beating a player who had won the tournament for consecutive years.
Later in the week, Mr C and Mr K went for the children’s fencing activity. This was Mr K’s first time fencing and he loved it. It was an hour long and during the lesson, there was plenty of physical exercise for both of them. It was a very well thought out activity that was definitely worth the money.
During the free time, we spent most of the time swimming at the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. Best of all, we even bumped into Mr K’s classmate and his family there! So we all went together on the Tycoon Twister and Tornado! It was a lot of fun but getting the float up the flight of stairs repeatedly nearly killed me. I was quite breathless at the top of the slide!
One of the main reasons for booking this holiday was also to celebrate our friend’s 40th birthday! We all had a very nice meal at Shearing House.
We all had an amazing time and would love to go back again. It’s always so much more fun to go along with friends so that children can play together, giving the adults a welcome breather.
