Tamworth Annual Firework 2016

25 November 2016 by Eileen

This was our third year attending the Tamworth Annual Firework event and every year it is packed full of activities and people! This year, it was again a spectacular fireworks display by the council and we will definitely be going again next year. The whole display normally last 20 minutes but best of all, it was free!

The fun fair, food stalls and other activities started from 6pm.  Mr K had a karate lesson that day so by the time he got back and had his dinner, it was quite late.  So we didn’t spend time looking around the stalls.

As this was a free event, you would expect to have a lot of people coming from all over the place and car parks are bound to be packed!  When we went during the first year, we didn’t know where to park and ended up parking off the road.  We were so lucky not to get a parking ticket!  Luckily, we were on the private property area and was not fine by the parking wardens!  What a lucky escape!  Parking wardens are always on walkabout during the fireworks event so this year we decided to park at Ventura car park and walked.  It was about a 20 minute walk from there to the castle grounds which wasn’t too bad.

We arrived 30 minutes early before the display at 8pm.  To keep both children entertained, we went to the playground to kill time!  This year the playground was slightly better lit and we could see each other.  The past two years we went, it was so dark!  It is handy to take your own torch!

After that, we made our way onto the big field to get a better spot to see the display.  It was bitterly cold but luckily both children were wrapped up warm!  But I didn’t.  I nagged at my children to wear more and the next thing I knew, I forgot to do so myself!  It was so typical!

Anyway, this year the display started slightly later than we expected but it was ace!  I love the whole display plus the choreography to the music!  The music was up-to-date with the Ghostbusters theme tune and there was a Star Wars finale!

After the display, it was hard work getting back to our car!  The flow of human traffic was very slow but I am so glad that we parked our car so far away that we avoided the traffic jams.

I do think it is worth going to the display and we will definitely go again next year which will be the 10th year anniversary.

It’s lovely. We have a firework display of 20 minutes for Bonfire Night, it’s so nice to have more events like that. x
