Chillfactor Ice Cream Magic Tray

27 July 2016 by Eileen

This Ice Cream Magic Tray is another innovative product by the Chillfactor.  They are famous for their slushy maker, jelly maker and many more great products.  This is suitable for aged three and above.  Inside this set, it comes with a plastic tray, ice cream maker tray, small plastic jug, utensils and a small plastic chopping board.

chill factor ice creamBefore you can use it to make ice cream, you will need to make your own freezing agents.  Simply use 270ml of lukewarm water with 30 gram of cooking salt to make your own freezing agent for the ice cream maker tray.  If you don’t have cooking salt, table salt will also do.  Fill the tray and place it in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours before using it.

Next, to make your ice cream base, add double cream with your favourite flavoured syrup.  You have to make sure that the ice cream base is chilled and not warm.  Now you can prepare your ingredients like cutting up the fruits and crushing biscuits etc.

When you are ready to make your ice cream, bring out the ice cream maker tray.  Pour the liquid in a few batches onto the frozen metallic plate. Stir and scrape with the spatula to churn, and within seconds, you will have soft serve ice cream. Due to the hot weather, we were unable to make more ice cream.  In normal conditions, you could make at least three green jugs.  Our ice cream maker tray was not properly filled with the freezing agent. The top part of the tray was cooler and quicker to freeze the ice cream, and the other half was not cold at all.

The whole tray is very easy to hand wash and use.  My son had fun playing with it.  He loves that he can choose his own flavour without additives.

Overall I think this tray is a nice and neat idea for children who is interested in making ice cream.  But each time, you can only make a small portion.  This is available to buy on www.character-online.co.uk and good retailers.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
