Name That by Megableu

29 June 2016 by Eileen 2 Comments

Name That is a quick thinking name game that challenges children in speed and wisdom.  It is a great game for parties, travel and holidays.  This card game is for two or more players and suitable for aged 6 and above.  It consists of 50 cards which shows the category and letter, with thousands of possible combinations.

This game is very simple and yet challenging.  Firstly, players pick up a card, read the category and then quickly think of a word that begins with the letter shown on the next card – the first player to call out a correct answer wins the card. The aim of the game is to try and win the most cards!

The cards are thick, circular and easy to hold. The deck of cards comes well protected inside a small circular tin to keep them safe and makes it a perfect travel game you can take anywhere as it fits in your pocket!

Each card comes with one category and it could be naming a film title, river or lake, historical figure, body part, toy, mode of transport and many more. I have played this with my eight year old and seven year old. They both struggled to name people/animal names for historical figures, musical artists, birds and others. I did have to ask Siri for some answers and explanations but this is a great opportunity for us to all learn together. Also there are some categories that they had not seen before that needed explaining, for example units of measure and modes of transport.

We love this card game and we have been playing it again and again. If they struggle, we can always help them or pass the card.  It is a challenging general knowledge game.
