FREE Tennis Session

27 June 2016 by Eileen

Have you sign up for a free Tennis session with Lawn Tennis Association yet?

Today is the start of The Championships, Wimbledon 2016, are you as excited as I am?  Whether you are a massive fan or have not tried tennis before, you might like to know that you could try tennis for free this summer at a Great British Tennis Weekend event!

wimbledon 2007

There will be thousands of free events taking place throughout the summer and all across the country, with sessions to suit the whole family. There are Highland Spring Mini Tennis sessions, family time, free play, Cardio Tennis and numerous other kinds of activities to get involved in.  Have you signed up yet?

My husband and I used to live in Southfields where the Wimbledon stadium was just a few bus stops away. We were lucky to get tickets through the ballot in 2007 and so we were able to watch some really great quality tennis live! This was the year before they built the roof, but luckily for us we had a really sunny day that day.

Since moving away from London, we have not yet had the opportunity to watch it live but plan to take the children when they are a little older. As both of them are growing fast now, I think it is time for us to introduce them to tennis. As Ms C has a visual impairment, she finds it hard to see the ball but she is happy to practise with Mr C. However, Mr K is keen to learn at school but unfortunately we have a conflict with his swimming class, so he’s not able to train after school.  But he and his mates are a few of the best players in his class.

So I have signed them both up to try out for free session with this Great British Tennis Weekend (Saturday 16th July and Sunday 17th July) at our local club! This is a great family-oriented event and it is completely free!  Also you need not worry about bringing your own rackets and balls, as they will be provided at the club! So why wait? Go and sign it up! It is open for everyone across the UK for families to come in and try tennis!

I’m working with the Lawn Tennis Association on their #GBTW campaign. Sign up for your FREE tennis activity.

I used to work in Southfields and loved the buzz that came with the tennis each year. I miss it now we’ve moved away and would love to go back x

I’m gripped by the tennis. I love the tennis fever that takes hold this time of year. It’s not safe to walk on our playground at the moment for all the kids with their racquets, but it’s such a good thing!

We have been lucky enough to get tickets in the ballot twice and have loved the atmosphere of it both times. Missed out this year! We have signed up for #GBTW

I’m a huge fan of tennis and love to watch it live and on TV. I’ve not thought about getting the kids involved but I think Bud would really enjoy it. We’ll have to try to check out one of the taster events.

It’s lovely to hear that you and your husband enjoyed the tennis before children came along but now you want to introduce them to tennis! I hope you all enjoy your free sessions at the #GBTW.
