Disney Pictopia is a picture-trivia family game that spans the decades of Disney’s cinematic history. Not only does this game test your Disney knowledge, it offers a unique twist; some questions must be answered from the perspective of the player asking the question, making it ideal for gathering the whole family around the table this Christmas. This game is available to buy on Amazon and other retailers at RRP £19.99.
This is suitable for aged 7 and above and for 2 to 6 players. Inside this box, it comes with 1 game board, 200 cards, 6 movers, 30 wager coins, 6 scoring dials, 1 die and instructions. The rectangle game board is made from thin cardboard base. The graphics on the game board are superb and I love all the details. On each question card, there are four pictures clearly labelled A, B, C and D. At the back of the question cards, are the questions and answers. My six year old struggled to read the questions but she managed to cover the answer and show us the questions. It’s a nice touch to have the movers and scoring dials shaped like Mickey Mouse – they are adorable!
To play this game, you need to place your mover on the top of the game board start space. Each player gets a scoring dial and five wager coins matching their colour mover (numbered 1 to 5, placed number facing down). The player with the next birthday is the host for the first turn. To win this game, you need to get to the castle space and answer a solo pick question to win.
In my video review, I will show you what is inside the box and how to play the game. https://youtu.be/2m_-2CzCREI
There are 1000 questions from Frozen to Bambi, from Cinderella to Toy Story and many more Disney animated classics and blockbuster movies to television hits. Some of them are group questions and some are individual questions. For the group questions, all players except the host work together to answer the questions. For the individual questions, players will use their scoring dials to answer questions secretly! There’s a nice twist to this game which is to answer spotlight questions. These are all about you, the host, and what you think about the characters, stories, and the other players.
There is an accompanying free Pictopia app with bonus content and lightning-round final challenge which is available to download from iTunes and Google Play store.
Overall, we all enjoyed the game and had fun together. I love the blend of different questions types of questions and of course the Disney topics. I would highly recommend this board game for all Disney fans. It is a great family game to play this Christmas.
