Glorious Soup & Uncle Ben Review

24 July 2015 by Eileen

Earlier this month, I had a wonderful opportunity to try two different types of healthy range foods. First was the SkinnyLicious range of healthy Glorious soups and then there was Uncle Ben’s new range of wholesome, great-tasting Rice & Grain varieties!

Introducing the SkinnyLicious soup range of Glorious Soup which is perfect for those seeking a guilt-free, healthy indulgence. Each SkinnyLicious soup is less than 2% fat and under 150 calories per portion. They are suitable for vegetarians, and others in the range are suitable for vegans and those with gluten allergies. For the past few weeks, I have been to Tesco and Waitrose to stock up. I am pleased that both supermarkets stock different ranges of flavours and I was able to try them all out!

glorious soup

Each soup is pack with exciting flavours from all over the world like the Singapore Fling to Thai Tuk Tuks & Turmeric to New England in Autumn. You will be spoilt by the range of choices! I love that their soups have a very authentic flavour unlike those common soups you find in the supermarket. It is a very bold move but it is definitely very inspiring for all the foodies out there!

These convenient soup pots come with a very unique classic picture that is a travel inspired recipe. One soup pot will fill me up for a quick lunch! To prepare the soup, you can either cook it in a pot or heat them in a microwave. I love that the soups tastes fresh and with great flavour. My favourites are the Thai Tuk Tuks & Turmeric and Sun Kissed in Sicily. I love carrot base soups and this Thai Tuk Tuks & Turmeric is not only flavoursome and sweet, it is also packed with lemongrass, ginger, lime and coriander with a little coconut flavour in it.

The Sun Kissed in Sicily soup pot is a zingy pomodoro tomato and balsamic soup with roast garlic and fennel. Some of the soups have basmati rice in it which gives a unique, interesting texture. I managed to find six different flavours but I have not tried the Goa Express and Persian Hug.

Overall I enjoyed the SkinnyLicious soup ranges and they are very affordable. They are perfect for these sunny Summer months for a quick and filling meal. If you love an authentic and unique taste, find out more from their SkinnyLicious page.

uncle bens rice & grains

Did you know that Uncle Ben’s has launched a new range of wholesome, great-tasting Rice & Grain varieties? Each pack blends the goodness of wholegrain rice with added grains such as quinoa, wild rice or pearl wheat.

Uncle Ben’s Rice & Grains Range

  • Wholegrain & Quinoa (220g)
  • Pearl Wheat, Quinoa and Wholegrain (220g)
  • Wholegrain & Quinoa Tomato and Basil (220g)
  • 5 Whole Grains (220g)
  • Rice Medley (220g)

Super grains have soared in popularity in recent years, with much being written about their health benefits. For example, quinoa is one of the only grains that provides all nine essential amino acids making it a complete protein.

I have no ideas how to cook these super grains so I am glad that Uncle Ben’s have this fab range to cover it all. These Rice & Grains range can be prepared in just two minutes in a microwave or pan. I added them with chicken and ham for a quick stir fry. My children who don’t normally eat wholegrain, didn’t even realised their fried rice was packed with these great nutrients! These are such a great healthy food and can be simply supplementing with chicken, fish, vegetables and salads to make a healthy lunch or dinner! Each packet RRP £1.99 which is great value for money. They are so quick and easy to create a nice meal for my family when I am in a rush.
