Spring / Summer Crafts

21 April 2015 by Eileen

Crafts are always a great way to entertain a bunch of children especially during a party. We often find that whenever we have friends and their children over, our home quickly becomes a madhouse especially with our children as ringleaders. So by giving them something to do like group activities, it helps to ease the noise and mess in the house.

Baker Ross have recently sent me their new summer crafts collections which include the Sealife decoration Sewing Kits, Monster Scratch Art Magnets, Mermaid Weaving Bookmark Kits, Ceramic Gnomes, Coloured Sequins and many more.

Each kit is well packed and they are also great for party bags. They are very well priced and great value. The kits are easy to follow and make. They are always of good quality and come with full instructions.

Last week, we had a birthday party. The children started playing with the action figures and created a battlefield in the kitchen.  To clear them off, I gave each child a craft kit to do with their parents. They were all very pleased doing it.

The monster scratch art magnets were a big hit. They all love to scratch and made funny designs on their monsters.

The Mermaid kits comes with four different colours of mermaid. These were big hits for the girls. It is quite easy to weave through the foam. Next they needed to trim the ribbons to stick on the body. This is a useful bookmark.

The boys were sewing the sea animals but they need plenty of help to tie knots on the thread. These sea animals are quite small and look absolutely great for decorating a door handle for example.

We also painted a few garden gnomes, getting ready to display them in our garden! Both my children loved it! This is quite a small gnome which is easy for younger children to paint.

Do take a look at Baker Ross if you are looking for craft kits to entertain your children over the weekends or for parties! I would highly recommend them.

We have also received a pack of Aquabeads Jewel refill set which is great to top up our previously reviewed the Aquabead starter set. It’s great that we don’t have to buy a whole new kit. This refill set comes with over 600 beads, 4 template sheets and instructions. Both my children enjoyed making their own creations rather than follow the template. I would recommend it for independent creative play.  You can get it from ToyRUs, Amazon and other good retailer at RRP£4.99.

Also check out how we made Fish Mobile and Super Hero Story Telling.
