Finn, a boy’s doll

4 December 2014 by Eileen

Arklu has released a new line of boy dolls as a playtime buddy that young boys can relate to. Arklu, are the company behind the hit ‘pro-girl’ fashion doll, Lottie, whose values address body image and premature sexualisation. If you have not heard of Lottie doll, click to read my review on Butterfly Projector and Super Lottie.

Finn fly kite

Arklu developed Finn in direct response to demand from parents, as Arklu co-founder, Ian Harkin explains: “After launching Lottie in 2012, we began receiving a deluge of requests from parents, whose daughters play with Lottie, to produce a similar age-appropriate character for their sons.”

Finn™ protrays a realistic, healthy child-like body shape, and promotes wholesome play values. He measures 18 cm tall, the same as Lottie. He is a solid doll with moveable limbs that enable him to sit or stand. His short brown locks are smooth and easy to maintain. His clothing and shoes are removable and easy to put back on. Sometimes the shoes can slip off.

Mr K loves playing with Finn along with Lottie. He pretends Finn is Lottie’s boyfriend and go fishing! It’s nice to see Mr K play with doll at his age. The dolls are perfect for role play and he enjoys playing with them, without pushing the violent, aggressive, adult agendas.

The premise for Finn’s character has been developed around the notion of what it is to be a child – he loves the outdoors, playing sports, going on adventures, solving problems, and climbing trees. He lives on a fictional island called Branksea, sharing his adventures with his friends Lottie, Maya and pet dog, Biscuit the Beagle.

The new Finn range currently comprises two products, ‘Kite Flyer’ Finn and the ‘Gone Fishing’ accessory set. ‘Kite Flyer’ Finn (RRP £16.99) wears trendy cargo shorts, a star-theme Tee, gilet and skater sneakers, and comes complete with his very own diamond-shaped Kite accessory. The ‘Gone Fishing’ (£7.99) accessory set comprises cargo shorts, a long sleeved shark-themed tee, deck shoes, and comes with a fishing rod and fish. They are available to buy on Amazon.

Finn is presented in a colourful, themed, reusable box with handy carry handle. The packaging has been created with minimal plastic packaging, making it kinder to the environment and easier for children to open by themselves.

If you would love to find out more about Finn, follow them on Facebook or Twitter for more information.

Now Lottie is offering 20% off their purchase across entire range using the code LOTTIE10, once you have spent over £20 at the AMAZON checkout only (not on the LOTTIE website cart).  Offer ends Midnight on Sunday, 14 December 2014

Disclosure: Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own. We have included an Amazon affiliate link to the product. If you click on this and buy, we may earn a small commission. We are Lottie Ambassadors.
