Dora is going for an underwater adventure with your little one! This gorgeous Fisher-Price mermaid Dora can dive off the side of the tub, into the water and once she is in the water, she turns on her back and swims! Push her fin against the tub wall and Dora will kick off the wall and start swimming!
This Dora bath toy measures about 33 cm long and comes with long soft hair and a comb! To get Dora to dive in, simple bend her into the seated position until she clicks into place. Then place her on the edge of the bathtub facing the water and ready to dive. Our bathtub edges are not flat so we had some difficulty getting her to dive in! So this is best if you have a larger flat surface area on your bathtub. To launch her into the water, press the button found on the centre of her tail-fin. She will dive forward and land into the water. Ms C was quite scared to launch her but she giggled so much when I launched Dora into the water and made a big splash!
On the instructions, it mentions not to remove Dora’s hair from her ponytail otherwise she will not swim properly. Therefore, I asked Ms C not to mess Dora’s hair which seemed a waste but she was able to comb her ponytail. Her hair texture is beautifully silky and soft. They are unlike the synthetic hair from cheaper plastic dolls.
Dora is also able to swim on her back by winding her left arm forward for about 8 revolutions. She can swim backwards across the length of our bathtub. Ms C didn’t have any problem winding her but except sometimes she winds it in the wrong direction. Dora’s arms will slowly rotate her arms and swim backwards. Each time, Ms C was so excited when Dora start to swim! If it is not wound, she is able to float on the water.
I do think she is slightly overpriced but it does make a great bath toy for any girl! It is very well made and there is great attention to detail. It is a good size and durable. They are available to buy from Argos.
