Last week, I was invited to attend the first-ever Genuine Thermos Brand Coffee Masterclass. Taking inspiration from the huge success of the ‘Overnight Coffee Challenge’ that took American coffee lovers by storm, I was invited to experience the remarkable heat retention capabilities of Genuine Thermos Brand Stainless King™ Vacuum Insulated Beverage Flasks.
They have partnered with the renowned Prufrock coffee house (in London) to allow for one-on-one engagement with the expert baristas to provide a truly immersive environment for an in-depth introduction to the perfect home brewed coffee and share some insider tips on how to buy better coffee – from decoding coffee bag label information to understanding just how important the quality of the beans really is. Besides that we also learnt how to froth the milk and make espresso! I have no clue in coffee tasting despite drinking a fair bit of coffee! It was a very interesting class from smelling to swirling to sipping the coffee with a loud noise (like eating a bowl of noodles). I am a sweet tooth and normally add a lot of sugar and milk into my coffee. Having to sip it as a black coffee almost killed my tongue! The aroma was great but too bitter to taste after tasting 10 different types of coffee. But it helped me to appreciate the different brands of coffee and where they are from play an important part too!
Later, we were all sent home with freshly brewed black coffee in a Genuine Thermos Brand Stainless King storage to ensure the coffee stays hot for up to 24 hours and also a travel mug too.
I waited for at least 24 hours before I tried it. I have always been very impressed with Thermos and we have always used them, particularly for the children when they were babies to make their formula. We had various sizes of silver Thermos flasks and jugs to use. Thermos has been with us for a long time and are a very reliable and trusted brand.
With the update and facelift, their King range of flasks would definitely suit modern homes and also for glamping! They are very stylish. It comes with midnight blue, matte black and cranberry and are available from Argos, Debenhams, John Lewis, Thermos.co.uk and Amazon (RRP £24.99 to £30).
I have received the midnight blue which comes with a silver cap and shining finish on the body. It keeps hot or cold for up to 24 hours. I tested it again for the next couple of days and it kept the drinks warm. In our tests, the more volume of hot drinks you fill in the flask, the longer it will keep warm. I have not tried it on cold drinks as this has not been the weather to drink cold drinks. The only bad point about the flask is the hinged handle as it moves and trap our fingers at times (depending on how you hold it). The handle does fold flat for easy storage. Overall we are very pleased with the flask as they look great for taking out for on trips. It is great value for money and I would recommend them.
The 470 ml Vacuum Insulated travel mug is great to keep a large volume of coffee or tea on the go. The stylish design is unisex. It keeps the drink hot at least 4 to 6 hours. It is BPA free and the Drink Lock™ sealing lid locks the top to avoid leaking when on the move. It should fit into most of the coffee machine but unfortunately it didn’t fit into my Philips Senseo coffee machine. They are slightly more expensive than I would like to pay but design is top quality. They would definitely make a great gift!
