Summer Activities A – Z: J

6 August 2014 by Eileen

This is another great set of summer activities we did for the letter J yesterday! J is joyful and my children are a testament to that. They had so much fun at the National Forest Adventure farm.

J for Japan

I love Japan and have been there three times. The first couple of times were for my 21st and 22nd birthdays. The third time, I went there with my husband for our second honeymoon after leaving the children with my mother in Singapore.

So I showed both my children my photo album from the Japan trips. Looking back at those photos, I really miss those travelling days.

J for Jam

We cycled into town and bought a jar of strawberry jam from the vintage trade show. We don’t use jam too much but I wanted to give the children a little treat with this home made jam so we are having jam sandwiches!

J for Jelly

I made almond jelly with fruit. Jelly is the best pudding for the hot summer. Mr K preferred to drink jelly out of the pouch.

J for Jelly Fish

We made paper plate jelly fish. You will need: paper plates (cut into half), colour tissue paper (cut in 1.5 cm by 10 cm), glue, marker pen, decorative materials.

  1. Draw a face on the paper plate. Or you could use googly eyes, foam or felt to make a face.
  2. Stick the strips of coloured tissue paper on the back of the plate.

J for Jasmine

Ms C loves Disney shows so at her request, we watched Aladdin much to Mr K’s distaste.

J for Jump

Both children loved jumping up and down on the bouncing pillow at the National Forest Adventure farm.

Next is the letter K. Mr K is very excited already as all he thinks it’s his own name. Well, do check out tomorrow for our letter K!

Hello!

Welcome to ET Speaks From Home!

Hi, I’m Eileen — a mum of two teenagers, aged 18 and 17, and a passionate lifestyle blogger sharing snippets of family life, creativity, and culture since May 2012. My daughter lives with visual impairment, and our journey together has shaped much of the heart behind this blog.

What started as a small space to document family memories has grown into a vibrant corner of the internet where I share my love for cooking, crafting, DIY projects, Chinese culture, parenting, and honest product and YouTube reviews. Whether I’m creating festive crafts, exploring Chinese traditions, or trying out new recipes, I hope to inspire others through everyday moments from home.

Over the years, ET Speaks From Home has been recognised by several parenting and blogging communities, including:

* Top 20 UK Parent Blogs (2020)

* Tots100 Top 20 Vloggers (2016)
* Shortlisted for the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards (BiBs), Video Category (2014)
