This is a story about Lottie and Dottie. They both love growing things and when they take a trip to Mr McWelly’s Garden Centre they make the amazing discovery that carrots taste much better when they grow them themselves. They also meet their neighbour Mr Thompson who loves to dig holes in his garden. He passes a valuable tip to Dottie. So what did Mr Thompson tell her? I am going to let you find out.
The storyline is very enjoyable and easy to understand. My son found it easy to pronounce Lottie and Dottie but not me! It doesn’t quite roll off the tongue for me! Mr K who is 6 years old was comfortable reading the book which is on par for it being a blue Early Reader.
I like that at the back of the book, it shows you how to grow your carrots. Have you grown anything with your children? We have! We have been trying to grow green beans and sunflowers! Fingers crossed that it will be growing green shoots soon!
