Markwins Cosmetic and Beauty collections for Young Girls

13 April 2014 by Eileen

A year ago, I raised a question with UK beauty bloggers if they knew anything about nail polish for children but didn’t get anywhere.  Ms C is a big fan of nail polish.  I had bought her a few adult nail polishes while we were out shopping.  With the various chemicals in nail polish, I always worry that she might accidentally ingest it or that it would harm her tiny nails.  Long term use of nail polish will dull the colour of the nail if you don’t look after it properly.  Therefore, I am so glad to come across Markwins on Twitter.

Markwins Disney Princess Set

Markwins have been expertly designing cosmetic and beauty collections for over 25 years based on three simple concepts – Quality, Value and Innovation.  They offer fabulous value, innovative packaging, inspiring concepts and affordable beauty products to women and girls around the world, without sacrificing quality.

At Markwins, they ensure that their cosmetic collections for kids are fun, as well as being safe.  Their cosmetics in their kid ranges adhere to and surpass the European toy regulations and conform to EU cosmetic policies.  They have a range of products from Monster High, Disney Princess, Minnie Mouse, Barbie and Pop.  These collections combine imaginative and creative play with the upmost consideration of the safety of your child, including peelable, water-based nail polish and the inclusion of no glass or heavy metals in any of their components.

The first item that Ms C opened is the Disney Princess’s range!  She loves princesses!  It comes with a cosmetic set and a nail set.  Inside the cosmetic set, there are sparkling lip glosses, eye shadows and purple nail polish.  Inside the nail set, there are three mini bottles of pink nail polishes.  Mr K couldn’t wait to help Ms C to put on eye shadow!  He sees it as a form of face painting which he has always been a willing volunteer!

The pink nail polish is quite pale and subtle.  The purple nail polish is quite dark and is more visible on Ms C’s nails.  It didn’t take long to dry.

The eye shadow is very easy to apply but it can get quite powdery.  So be careful, just in case, the powder gets everywhere.  If they change their mind, just use a baby wipe to wipe off.

This is little happy Ms C with her Disney Princess makeover!

Next, we opened the Barbie pack and it comes with lip stick and nail polish.  It is very easy to apply and if you accidentally paint the nail polish outside the nail, simple rub it off or use a baby wipe to wipe off.

The next day, Ms C was screaming as her pink nail polish had come off while she washing her hands.  As mentioned above that this is a peelable, water-based nail polish, so it comes off quite easily.  I had to appease her by telling her that we had the Minnie make-up set for her to try.  I like the idea of water-based nail polish!  Now I won’t need to use nail vanish to clean off the previous nail polish!

This Minnie Mouse comes with nail polishes, two lipsticks in polka dot cases, eight different lip glosses, brushes, two set of cream eye shadow, a clip and nail polish.  She is so happy putting it on.  The cream eye shadow is quite easy to apply and it stays on for a long time.  After shower, the colour still stayed on.  She adored the Minnie hair clip that she keeps on her throughout the day.  She is a happy girl here!

Last but not least is the Monster High set.  It is a well presented package consisting of stickers, eye shadows, nail polishes, lip crayon, shimmer powder and cream eye shadow.  This is definitely something I will buy for a gift!  It comes with a cool metal case for storage.

You can find their collections in retailers such as Smyth’s Toys, Toys R Us and Argos as well as all major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda.

Overall, I love that the nail polish is water-based and all the cosmetics are safe for children to use.  It gives me piece of mind that we are not putting harmful products on their face.  I would highly recommend and definitely buy them again.

What a great idea. I remember playing with my Mum’s makeup when I was little, it would be great to get F some so she doesn’t use all of mine!

Nail polish for kids is a great idea as Miss C loves having her nails painted but I do worry about the chemicals etc in regular nail polish and how it might affect her nails. I don’t like make-up on young children so personally I wouldn’t use it but it’s good to see that they have made something suitable for young girls to keep their skin safe if their parents do choose to let them use it.

I like the fact that the polish is peelable. Some kids polishes are awful

This is great I was chatting to mother in law about whether nail Polish was safe for little ones just last week!
