TOMY Britains Farm Toy Die Cast Metal Review

17 March 2014 by Eileen

Tomy have a new range of Britains Farm Toys which are 1:32 scale models made from die-cast metal.  These are suitable for age 3 onwards.  These models are great for role-play and development, and are suitable for indoor play and are collectible.

We were sent these four Britains Farm Toy 1:32 range: John Deere 7930 Tractor, John Deere 990 Round Baler, Land Rover & Sheep Trailer set and Spearhead Orbital Reach Mower.

John Deere 7930 Tractor

This die-cast tractor is very realistic, well made and robust.  It comes with rubber wheels with front steering function.  At the back, it has a standard hitch compatible with 1: 32 implements.  It is operated by a single click to attach or detach the implements.  The exhaust pipe, mirrors and hinge are made from soft plastic.  So you have to take care to not throw nor drop the tractor as it might break the soft plastic.

John Deere 990 Round Baler

This is a 1:32 scale die cast round baler with rear fabric door.  Release the plastic bale by simply flipping up the fabric door.  This is an interesting machine which features original decal detail, rolling wheels with tyre tread design, movable pick-up and support foot, and front hitch for attaching.

Land Rover & Sheep Trailer set

This Land Rover comes with original decal detail, fixed spare wheel, detachable canopy, rear hitch and rolling wheels with tread detail.  It also comes with a single axle sheep trailer with drop down tailgate, tow bar hitch.  There are 4 pieces of plastic fencing, 3 sheep, sheepdog and shepherd.  The plastic fencing are not very easy to hook into place.  My children required my help to slot them in.

Have a look at my video review for the Land Rover & Sheep Trailer set.

Spearhead Orbital Reach Mower

This is used to cut the hedgerows along the fields.  It is a die-cast metal mover and plastic replica designed to be connected to the rear hitch of Britains 1:32 scale tractors.  I tried it on the John Deere 7930 Tractor but it won’t work.

There are two verge segments supplied with this mower.  The mower head can be turned and angled, and the mower arm features 180-degree movement.  It’s base is very light and it tends to trip when played alone.  So Mr K had to keep holding the base and move the mower head with another hand.

My children were very excited when they saw these Britains Farm range and they had a lot of fun playing with the set.  These are excellent for farm role play.  All these are excellent quality.  If you have animal or tractor lover children, you might like to check out the Tomy website for more informations.

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

These look wonderful., It’s not easy to find really detailed farm toys (I know, farm obsessed boy here) so it’s great to see this range.
