How clean is your Oven?

13 March 2014 by Eileen

Oven Pride had set a few bloggers for a spring cleaning challenge.  They sent us a box of their complete oven cleaner.  Inside this box, there is bottle of the solution, a huge plastic zip lock bag and a pair of gloves.

Oven Pride Oven Cleaner

I am no stranger to Oven Pride as I have used them before.  I love to using the huge plastic zip lock bag as I have not seen any other oven cleaning product provide a plastic bag for your racks and grills.

Before we begin, this product is not supposed to be used for any part of the hob or oven trim, glass over door, pilot light or heating and fan elements.  Always check your oven before you proceed.    They do suggest to use any leftover solution to give the inside of the oven a clean by pouring into the oven and apply it with sponge or cloth.  Leave it overnight and clean it with hot soapy water to remove any residue.

If you’ve read some of my past blog posts, you may know that I am a clean freak, and so I had just recently given my oven a clean.  So now I am only using Oven Pride to clean my rack and grills.  I was not thinking straight when I put in two oven trays, a rack and a grill.  By the time I realised it was too late as I had already poured the solution and it wasn’t enough to coat everything.  This is a 500ml bottle which I think would cover at least one tray and a few racks but not with two trays.

After I placed all the items inside the plastic bag with the solution, I placed the closed plastic bag inside my bathtub.  After a few hours later, I tilted the bag to recoat and left it overnight.

The next morning, I took the trays and rack off using my own rubber gloves and washed it thoroughly in the bath.  The result is amazing.  Most of the grease stains have come off easily.  Only a few stubborn stains need to scrub with the sponge.  Overall I am very pleased with the result.  As I mentioned I didn’t have enough solution to cover the whole surface area of the oven items, so certain places required scrubbing.

Oven Pride Before and After

I am not surprised with the result as I have always known that Oven Pride is a great product having used it before and it works every time.  I would highly recommend them as they work and are inexpensive.  It leaves your oven amazingly clean!
