Interplay Craft Pirate Party Review

11 February 2014 by Eileen

Hey! Hey! Ship Mate! Recently, I’ve found that more and more parents have been having themed birthday parties like pirate, princess, car, Disney, etc. Finding the right kits is essential! Besides getting right utensils, party bags, cakes or even clothing, you also need entertainment/craft time! Craft Party kits offer an ideal party time solution for keeping up to six kids entertained. This Pirate party kit contains everything needed and each child is able to take their own creation home.

Interplay Craft Pirate Party Review

With this pirate themed kit, the children can paint their very own pirate treasure chest, make a pirate hat and eye patch then take part in fun pirate themed games to win a hoard of pirate treasure.

Includes:

  • 6 Pirate Treasure Chests
  • 6 Pirate Hats
  • 6 Self Adhesive Skull and Crossbone Decals
  • 6 Pirate Eye Patches
  • 6 Paint Brushes
  • 12 Pots of Paint (4 colours)
  • 24 Imitation Gold Doubloons

interplay Pirate Party contents

I absolute love the party game ideas suggested by Craft party (which you can find in the instructions). I would not have thought of having a Peg Leg Pirate game where children are asked to stand on one leg and the last one standing wins. This is very interesting. They also suggest The Captain says (similar to Simon says), Treasure Hunt, Treasure Islands, X Marks the Spot, Pass the Cannonball and more!

This kit is recommended for ages 5 years and over. Ms C is over 4.5 years old and with my supervision, she managed to do it mostly on her own.

I love the excellent quality of the materials provided in the set. The hats and the eye patches are made from foam. They are easy to adjust according to the size of the head of the child and the string for the eye patch is stretchable. As they are made from foam, children are also able to stick any material on it. Both of them decided that they need a ‘P’ to put on their eye patches.

Both children took a while to paint the treasure chest. They had so much fun painting it and comparing them with each other. In keeping with the rest of the kit, the paint brush are of good quality and there is a good amount of paint in the pots. The chests took about 1 hour to dry. Each child received 4 Gold Doubloons to place in their treasure chest. I love the gold doubloons. They look and feel like a real coin, almost similar to an arcade token. I am very impressed!

Both of my children were very happy and pleased with the kits, as am I. So instead of getting bits and bob for the goodies/party bag, the children could take home their treasure chest filled with sweeties instead. The hat and eye patch can be reused over and over again. I would recommend the craft kit to anyone. The kit is priced at £24.99 which is quite expensive but if you break it down, it is about £4.16 each child and you save yourself from having to buy goodie bag bits and the pirate theme accessories.

We had this last year and it went down very well with Miss M and her friends. They loved painting the chests and spent ages on it – definitely kept them quiet for a bit!
