Old Time Favourite: Matchbox Car

4 October 2013 by Eileen

Vroom! Vroom! I am a classic car (Matchbox Car) but I never fail to be the most collectible die-cast vehicles! Now off I go! To commemorate the brand’s 60 year anniversary, Matchbox has released a collectible die-cast line of 24 vehicles that harkens back to its roots to celebrate its birthday. Each car comes with its own retro matchbox sized box. They are suitable for aged 3 and above. The RRP is £3.49 which is very reasonable.

Old Time Favourite Matchbox Car 60th anniversary car

We have received these two beautiful vehicles:

  • 68 Mustang GT/CS: Ford Mustang heritage runs deep and the very first Mustang appeared in 1966.
  • Renault Master Ambulance:  It is the first time creating this versatile model under the Renault name.

Both are very well-made with lovely attention to detail. The vehicles are one-piece with no moving parts except the wheels. The graphics on the vehicles are printed rather than stickers. They are great for stimulating children’s imaginations to have their thrilling car races or adventures. Mr K has built a racing course for his Mustang! They are not just boys toys as girls do love to play them too! Ms C took an instant liking to her Renault Ambulance and was ‘neenawing’ all over the place.

This Christmas, they are going to be great stocking fillers! They are inexpensive and small enough to literally put into stockings. Any child would love these as my two have certainly been a testament to that. Matchbox fans can also view the 60th anniversary video, which captures the spirit of the brand at www.Matchbox.com/Heroes

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

Love Matchbox, we used to have a massive toy shop in Aldershot when we were kids. There would be rows and rows of Matchbox cars – my brother had tonnes of them – true classics
