Love your gums

12 October 2013 by Eileen

Since young, I have never wanted to look after my teeth and gums even though I had plenty of oral hygiene talks from school. The reason is I always bleed when I brush my teeth so am scared of brushing them. My gums have always look darker red than normal. I have never dealt with this problem until I went on a volunteer overseas trip to Thailand. We had raised funds in Singapore and bought over a few hundred toothbrushes and toothpastes for two schools in Thailand. While we were in Thailand, we taught the children how to brush their teeth and why we should look after our teeth. It was only then, I realised that I should not have avoided my gum problem and should deal with it.

love your gums

Since then, I have regularly visited my dentist every six months and brush my teeth twice a day.  Brushing should be for two minutes which is not a long time but I’m always in a rush and brush for about a minute. I am indeed very naughty! Our regular family toothpaste has always been Colgate Whitening. My teeth are yellow from not looking after them properly. So I use a whitening toothpaste. I really need to love my gum and get it well protection!

Gum disease terrifies me so I am really strict with myself. My dentist is fab and gives me great advice. I always buy branded toothpaste because I don’t want to take any risks.

My teeth are awful from my younger days, but I do brush them now and visit the dreaded dentist

Tut tut! I’m not great looking after mine either but apparently I have good teeth so I don’t worry too much. I do always make sure my children’s are brushed properly twice a day though!
