Walkers TigerNuts Peanuts

12 April 2013 by Eileen

I was so excited when a lovely PR company sent me 4 packets of Walkers TigerNuts Peanuts for review. It was a new product launched by Walkers Snack Foods this April 2013. What made Walkers TigerNuts Peanuts different from the rest of brand peanuts? Each peanut is covered with a distinctive tiger-patterned shell. This is unique to Walkers.

Walkers TigerNuts Peanuts

They come in four lip-smacking varieties: classic Salt & Vinegar, purrrfect Smoky Bacon, exotic Sweet Chilli and mighty Masala Curry. Each costs RRP £1.49 for 130g or RRP £0.69 for 40g which I think it is very reasonably priced and good value. They are available at Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, ASDA, The Co-operative and leading independent traders.

I love the tiger packaging.  It is bold and funky but it can be quite confusing what are they selling, e.g. my husband initially thought they were crisps. The bar code on the pack is very interesting.  It is a tiger peeking out of the long grass saying suitable for vegetarians.

What do I think about them?

  • Smoky Bacon: This is a nice bold flavour. For me, it is very tasty and moreish.  This is my favourite among the four flavours.
  • Masala Curry: Before I tried it, I had in mind that it would taste very strong.  I was wrong.  It is a mild curry flavour and the spices are not too overpowering. There is a hint of spiceness.
  • Salt & Vinegar: I am not a big fan of vinegar but it is a very classic taste.  My husband thought these were great.
  • Sweet Chilli: It is spicy and easy to eat. I like spicy foods especially chilli so this is one of my favourites too.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
