A young company determined to revolutionise the ready meal category, SCRATCH provides a range of easy to follow recipes, designed by Michel Roux Snr., along with the freshly prepared ingredients. The range of meal kits includes a Singaporean Crayfish Laksa, Thai Green Curry, King Prawn and Chorizo Paella, Makhani Chicken Tikka Masala and the vegetarian, Tagliatelle Pistachio Pesto. Each meal kit takes the same amount of time to prepare as a standard ready meal and allows the individual consumer to cook, without wasting money on superfluous ingredients.
Each individual ingredients are in a sealed container that ensure the ingredients are fresh. It is easy to peel the seal and pour it straight into the pot. It is very straightforward and simple to cook.
I was not very keen of boiling rice in a saucepan as I have never cooked it this way before. I have a rice cooker which does the job for me. After the rice is boiled, I used a sieve to drain out the excess water. I was surprised that the rice came out soft and fluff.
I rate this 5 stars out of 5. The portion is just right. The chicken is from Britain and the sugar snap peas are crunchy. I was really impressed with the depth and fragrance of the curry sauce. This is far superior to any equivalent microwave meal and goes close to restaurant quality. This dish will plunge you into Asia itself with its exquisite flavours that will make your taste buds tingle. SCRATCH meal kits are available from Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Budgens, Boots and online at Ocado.com. Find out more at http://mealsfromscratch.co.uk/.
