Scratch Meal Singaporean Crayfish Noodle Laksa

16 April 2013 by Eileen Leave a Comment

I was very eager to try the Laksa as it is one of my favourite Singaporean foods.  I cook Laksa every few weeks at home or whenever I have friends come over to visit so I was eager to find out whether the Scratch meal is up to my standard.

Did you know that this young company determined to revolutionise the ready meal category? SCRATCH provides a range of easy to follow recipes, designed by Michel Roux Snr., along with the freshly prepared ingredients. The range of meal kits includes a Singaporean Crayfish Laksa, Thai Green Curry, King Prawn and Chorizo Paella, Makhani Chicken Tikka Masala and the vegetarian, Tagliatelle Pistachio Pesto. Each meal kit takes the same amount of time to prepare as a standard ready meal and allows the individual consumer to cook, without wasting money on superfluous ingredients.

All the ingredients are sealed in their own individual containers that ensure the ingredients are fresh. It is very easy to peel the seal and pour it straight into the pot. It is very straightforward and simple to cook.

I rate this 4 stars out of 5. I guess the recipe has been tailored for the masses. It is not spicy enough but it is still irresistible and delicious. I love crayfish but it’s not the norm in a Singapore Laksa. Overall the crayfish and the rest of the ingredients are fresh and compliment the Laksa. I would recommend to adding some chopped red chilli to add extra spiciness. SCRATCH meal kits are available from Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Budgens, Boots and online at Ocado.com. Find out more at http://mealsfromscratch.co.uk/.
