Mr K’s Leaving Do at Birches Valley Forest Centre

16 July 2012 by Eileen

Today, yet again a wet wet day! We were definitely not dressed appropriately for the wet weather for his pre-school leaving do at Birches Valley Forest Centre. Mr K didn’t want to wear his wellies and he wore shorts!  It is summer but not summer weather.

Due to a communication breakdown when we got there, we were all soaking wet while waiting for someone from the centre to take us there. In the end, The pre-school manager decided we should all walk to the centre instead waiting for the centre staff. When we reached there, we were greeted by the staff and left our lunch box in a big yellow container. We were then showed to the education room and the children were sitting around the projector. They were showed PowerPoint slides of animals that they can find in the forest and a teddy bear picnic story. After that we were walking around the forest looking for teddy bears who stole our lunch! The children were showed what plants were dangerous to touch and the use of the plants. They then had to create a picture of a teddy bear and also animals that lives in the forest using twigs, acorns and leaves.

After the tour, we had our lunch at the education room. Due to heavy rain, lots of parents decided to go home after the lunch so the manager brought the presentation forward. All the children are awarded a certificate and a bag of goodies containing a photo, a sweet, colouring book and colouring pens. This is Mr K receiving his certificate:

It was so sweet that the manager then played a game where the children had to guess which child she was describing.  For Mr K, she only had to say two words – Power Ranger! This is the superhero he likes.

Soon after we left due to heavy rain but some parents stayed as they are more outdoor activities to be follow.
