Making Pizza with Toco Kitchen 2

20 December 2014 by Eileen

Earlier this week, we downloaded Toco Kitchen 2 via the iTunes store and my children loose on it. They instantly took to it and love that they are able to cook for their customers and also tease customers by adding a lot of peppers and chilli sauce.

Toco Kitchen 2 app

The aim of the game is to cook food and feed it to one of the three customers. As you select a character, you will arrive in the kitchen. To the left is your fridge that is stocked with different types of food like cabbage, corn, prawn etc. Simply drag the food items to the table. Then to the right there is a tool shelf that can be opened. Here you will find all the tools available to prepare your food like chopping board, juicer, frying pan, cooking pot and oven.

In the lower right corner, there is a button to bring up the tray. In the tray you will find salt, pepper, Tabasco and lemon which you could use to spice up your dishes. On the tray, you can also place food you have prepared so that you can use it in different contexts. It is perfect for those complicated dishes.

When you serve up your food, your customers will react in unexpected ways when feeding them prepared food. This is a simple game app to get children to learn cooking and to get them involved which will help them in their later life.

So my children and I decided to cook pizza last night for tea. I had prepared the pizza base before they both get home as the dough needed time to rise.

Ingredients for the pizza base:

  • 375 g flour (300 g sieved strong white flour & 75 g plain flour)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 7 g easy bake yeast
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 225 ml warm milk

Method:

  1. In a big bowl, mix all the flour, olive oil, salt and sugar together and add warm milk to knead a dough for a minute.
  2. Add yeast into the dough and knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it stand in a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
  4. Knead the dough and roll it with a rolling pin about 1 cm thick.
  5. Apply tomato purée onto the pizza base. Then add cheese.
  6. Place all your ingredients on the pizza base.
  7. Place it in the oven for 10 minutes at 170°C.

Ms C and Mr K both enjoyed making their own tea and specifically because they could just add their favourite toppings! This is a great opportunity for them to learn about the food and have fun creating a meal. This a great life skill to learn. They both loved their pizza and finished it in no time!
