Horrid Henry’s Sleepover is a book written by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. This Red Early Readers book is the next step on your child’s reading journey. It will released on 27th February 2014 and published by Orion Books. ‘Horrid Henry’s Sleepover’ was originally published in Horrid Henry’s Stinkbomb, but appears here for the first time in a single volume.
The book is paperback containing about 80 pages with seven chapters. The font comes in varies sizes and is good for reading with simple words that are easy to read by school children. Each page contains a nice amount of sentences and full colour illustrations.
In this story, it tells how Horrid Henry loves to sleepover at his friend’s house but was always forced to go back home at 3 am as he either break things or creates chaos in other’s house. As a result, he is not invited to any more sleepovers! It is also not an option to invite his friends to sleepover as they have to be in bed by nine o’clock with no talking, no feasting and no fun at all.
So when New Nick invited Henry for a sleepover, he could not believe his luck! He is so eager to go for a sleepover but his luck runs low as it is not what he imagined! It was his worst ever sleepover! In the end, he had to call his dad to pick him up.
This is quite a fun outcome with Henry tasting his own medicine! Mr K took a while to read it as he is still learning to recognise words. But this is definitely a step up book for him to improve his reading skills. The storyline is great and also Horrid Henry is one of Mr K’s favourite characters.
