The world of construction playsets will light up this summer with the introduction of Lite Brix which, with both girls and boys sets, offers every child a totally new and illuminating brick building concept to discover. There are over 10 different type of playsets to choose from: Pet shop, Mansion, Super Jet Fighter, Extreme City Lights, Lumi-Port, Lumi-Star Racer etc.
This Lite Brix Rescue Copter playset is suitable for 6 plus and requires batteries. It took my 5 year old son Mr K and I around 2 hours of fun and sweat to build this very impressive rescue copter.
Construction
The step by step instructions with pictures are very clear and easy to follow. The bricks are made from good quality plastic but at times, it is quite hard to put two pieces together – even as an adult, I struggling.
The building system includes special connector pieces to attach the Lite Brix to each other so you can build the model on different angles, and translucent pieces that glow with colour from the LEDs. As it is LED, the lights should last for a long time.
Battery Compartment
It requires 3x AA batteries which are not included. You will need a small Philips screwdriver to remove the screw from the battery compartment. Slide the cover and insert the batteries.
Play value
This is a challenging playset. It requires fine motor skills and encourages independent play, problem solving and inquisitive thinking. It is also great to help the children understand how the battery powers the LED lights through the circuit.
The downside is that the rescue basket’s string does not wind up so it permanently dangles with the length of the string. Also the rotating blades come off too easily.
Overall, this is a gorgeous rescue copter and is sure to be a hit for most boys. I rate this 4 stars out of 5. Mr K has been playing with it non-stop since building it. He loves to pretend that he is rescuing the pirates from his pirate ship! Do check out Lite Wars and Lumi Star Racer.
