Today, I would like to share with you my secret lanes. I’ve lived in Lichfield for quite sometime but not many people know about these lanes and the small village of Wall. But of course it is famous for Letocetum, the remains of a Roman settlement.
This road trip is my regular route for the school run. In order to avoid the morning traffic down the A5 and M6 Toll, I drive down these lanes. The road is call Claypit Lane. Driving down this road, all we can see are hedges and crops. We are very near farms and it’s nice to see how their plantations grow through the seasons. My kids love to see the big farm machines during harvest time.
It is a nice and easy road to drive down as there are no traffic lights and not many cars on the road. The road can become quite narrow in some areas that you have to stop for the opposite car to pass but that’s par for the course for these types of lanes.
Soon after driving down Claypit Lane, I pass the village of Wall and carry on to Wall Lane and it then becomes Ashford Lane. I drive under the bridge of the A5 and reach Shenstone. This is where my children go to school.
This may seem a boring road to some but it is peaceful, quiet and straightforward, and it saves us so much time than going on the more direct main roads. I love this road! There are a lot of green fields and some beautiful old houses along the way. If you happen to be around here, drive down there to enjoy 5 minutes of countryside!

I love these kind of roads to give some countryside atmosphere, we have some near to us as we are not in central london but zone 5, so when you go to pinner it looks like countryside!
