Not long ago, I blogged about a few different ways to decorate your boring white wall, like adding a splash of colour to re-energise the room. If you don’t fancy getting the paints out, you could get museum-quality wall art, like paintings, photographs and illustrations to add to the wall. Or you could add sentimental items and pictures that remind you of your childhood. Hanging a quality mirror can help capture and reflect light. Alternatively, upcycle your furniture by painting it, like what we did to our bathroom, or refurbish it with used fabrics.
So today, it got me thinking about what we should do next to create a more positive and enjoyable space for our bedroom without blowing our budget. Upcycling is one of my favourite projects so I’m thinking along those lines. Previously, I built a pallet climbing frame and a pallet playhouse for my children. Recently, while walking with my lovely buddy dog Mabel daily, I’ve been seeing lots of building works around the estate with a lot of discarded pallets. So it got me thinking again – a pallet headboard for the bedroom would be a great idea for people who like wood and upcycling! I have no plans to change my bed just yet, but this would be a great way to revamp it. I would probably build some shelves and lighting to go along with it too.
If you are not into DIY and prefer a quick and easy fix, then wall stickers would be great to start with, especially as you can change it so often! They are affordable and easy to peel away, unlike wallpaper which is hard to remove plus they are not recyclable!
With wall stickers, you can instantly transform any room into a magical, playful room, or get more modern wall stickers to uplift the atmosphere to create a more adult-themed space!
Or use beautifully designed vinyl rugs as a nice finishing touch to your floor! They are very practical, easy to clean, anti-allergic and anti-slip product. All you have to do is unroll the rug and flatten it. Then lay it in the sun or next to a radiator until it has softened. Once the rug is flat, place it on the floor, and as it cools it will cling to the floor. It is that easy.
Last but not least, get contrasting bold throws, pillows or even a cocktail chair to place next to your window! It will be even better if you can place unusual ornaments, plants or even fake plants to lift the space further!
The year 2020 has not been a kind year to many of us! However, you can still create an enjoyable home without blowing your budget! Shop smart and do plenty of research! Just a few simple updates, you can turn your space into a haven in no time. Hopefully, the ideas above will help you or even inspire you to go about it.
