Gibsons Pass the Bomb Game Review

20 July 2020 by Eileen

Pass the Bomb – The Big One is a brand new family board game by Gibsons which contains 5 different challenges that harness your brainpower and tests your skills! This game is for two to eight players and suitable for aged eight and above.

Inside this eye-catching square box, it comes with one electronic timer (red time-bomb), 165 cards, four printed puzzle tiles, one game board, eight wooden playing pieces, one cup, one wooden ball and one special die. The time-bomb requires two AAA batteries which are not included. It does not have an on/off button and there is only one button to activate the timer. The timing is random and can go off any time between 10-60 seconds!

The aim of the game is to think of an answer or solve the task quickly, pass the bomb over to the next player and avoid the bomb detonating in your hand! The winner will be the player furthest away from the explosion in the centre of the game board. To play the game, place the game board at the centre of the table. Separate the cards by category, shuffle and place them face down in three piles by the game board. Place the time-bomb, cup and ball, four puzzle tiles and die to the side of the game board. A player rolls the die, triggers the time-bomb and attempts to complete the task before passing it to the next player. Keep playing until it detonates!

There are five different challenges. For the dexterity challenges, there is Puzzle Pro to test your puzzling skills and Bounce Boss that pushes your dexterity to the limit. For the word challenges, there is Rhyme Artist that tests players’ rhyming abilities, Word Acrobat that forces players to think of words containing all three of the letters on the cards and Category Captain challenges you to think of things that are “smaller than a mouse” or “larger than an elephant”.

We enjoyed playing this challenging game. It is fun, gets us thinking and increases our words! Pass the Bomb is available to buy from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
