Cluedo Junior Game Review

26 February 2017 by Eileen

Cluedo Junior is a quick and easy crime solving game for young children aged five and above. The aim of the game is to solve the mystery of the missing cake. You need to figure out who took it, when they took it and what they drank with it.

This game is for two to six players. It comes with 1 game board, 6 character pawns, 6 furniture tokens, 7 white bases, 7 yellow bases, detective notepad, die and instructions. Make sure you have pencils or pens available for this game! I love the character pawns! They are well made and very detailed. Before you play the game, it requires an adult to stick the stickers onto the die and tokens. It didn’t take me too long to sort it out.

To play the game, you will need take one white token and one yellow token to place in the middle of the game board. This is what time the person ate and what have they eaten. Then place the rest of the white tokens onto the characters’ pawns. Occasionally the white tokens pop out of the characters when they are moved to another location. Hence it is best to slide them than to try to lift them. The character with the crumb token will be the culprit!

This concept of this game is the same as the original Cluedo where you look for clues. This game is simpler and easier to play for young children. The problem you may have is that some children can’t keep a straight face and often give away their clues through their faces. It was fun to see their reactions and how they try to solve the mystery. They all had fun playing with it. Initially when we start to play, it was slightly confusing and children muddled up some of the pictures and furniture. It didn’t take long before all of them understood the game and soon, they were able to solve the mystery. Cluedo Junior is available to buy in good shop like Smyths and Amazon.
