This coming half term, prepare to catch jungle fever as Animal Kingdom: Let’s Go Ape brings breathtaking, imaginative animation to DVD. It is available from 15th February courtesy of Signature Entertainment to buy from good retailers including Amazon.
This story begins two million years ago. Deep in the Savannah desert lives Edward, the eldest son of a primate king. At birth Edward is considered too small and puny for his tough tribe and is sent away to be brought up in secret. But as he grows up he realises he is no ordinary ape. Through growing up, Edward discovers the secret of fire, hunting, modern living, love and much more. As generous as he is advanced, Edward wants to share everything, revolutionise the established order and bring his people bang up to date – with hilarious results as the rest of the primates try to get to grips with a new way of doing things!
The story shows us how ape learn the behaviour of living and evolution. We did find it a touch long but they do have a few great songs and fun parts where he discovers new stuff. Overall it is great for a rainy day and it’s nice for children to learn some ideas about evolution.
