Summer Crafts with Baker Ross

4 August 2015 by Eileen

You wouldn’t believe that it is summer and yet we are once again trapped inside our home by the rain! Last week, we had friends come over and the weather was really bad. Luckily, Baker Ross sent me a range of their craft kits to entertain the children.

We have received their summer crafts collections which include the colour-in cone puppet kits, African colour-in masks, solar system kits, jointed person kits, colour-in fabric butterflies, bug foam stickers and hand drum colour-in kits. Each kit is well packed and some kits are also great for party bags. They are very well priced and great value. The kits are of good quality with full instructions and are easy to follow and make.

Firstly, they all started off by colouring the masks and puppet kits. The mask kit comes with six masks of differing patterns and are complete with elastic ties. The masks are made from a flexible white cardboard. It is easily to colour in. Then the children pasted the insect foams onto the puppet cones and coloured in the face. All of them were very good at colouring the faces. They were all very pleased with their own crafts!

We also coloured in the jointed person kits and even made a video from it! You can read more about our HUE animation and see how we used the jointed person to make a small movie!

As for the solar system, it comes with two kits. Inside each kit, it comes with a total of 10 Styrofoam balls and a foam ring (for Saturn). It took me a while to identify each ball for the planets. Then I asked the children to paint them. It took around 3-4 hours for the paint to dry so I used an empty egg carton to hold the planets. This is not an ideal way to dry them but it did the job. Once dried, I assembled them and hung it up. The Styrofoam balls occasionally drop off the skewers so you may wish to glue them on if possible. Otherwise it might be dangerous as the wooden skewers are quite sharp.

Do check out Baker Ross if you are looking for craft kits to entertain your children over the weekends or for parties! I would highly recommend them.

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
