Monkey Visit the Dentist

3 August 2015 by Eileen Leave a Comment

It is important to keep your teeth clean and healthy. Part of that routine should involve visiting the dentist but this can be very daunting for children. However, Monkey is here to help explain it all through stories and activities. Monkey has a very interesting background as he was created by Helen Sadler, an ex-teacher, for her little girl when she faced major lung surgery.

Now Monkey is going to the dentist and explains his journey through the stories and activities. We have received this pilot copy (not finalised) of Monkey’s family visit to the dentist which explains in a child-friendly and engaging way what a typical check-up at the dentist may involve. Knowing what to expect will help children feel calmer and more relaxed when receiving treatment. In the back of the book, it also explains the big words in simple and easy to understand sentences.

Ms C and Mr K regularly have their six month check-up. They are quite familiar with the environment and through this book, they have learnt something new which is the x-ray. Both of them have not had a chance to have an x-ray before, so this will help them in future.

Next Ms C and I spent a good 20 minutes doing the Healthy Teeth activity guide. Inside this booklet, there are numerous puzzles, info about tooth decay, how to clean your teeth, top tips and many more. This is an interesting and useful activity book as both of us have learnt a lot. I didn’t know that by using a straw when drinking squash or fruit juice will help stop the sugar sticking to your teeth! Now I am going to straws more regularly for my whole family!

We find that the booklet is easy to understand and it’s great that is comes with photo illustrations, colourful pictures and games. Ms C enjoys reading it together with me and we both gained knowledge on each Monkey adventure.

Thanks to Monkey Wellbeing for sharing so much knowledge that I both didn’t know. Now Ms C is using the reward chart to remind herself to brush her teeth and the timer to make sure she brushes for two minutes!

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
