Free Printable Kids Travel Games

25 June 2015 by Eileen

We often travel by train when we need to go to one of the big city centres like London, Birmingham or Manchester as it is much less stressful than trying to navigate through the busy roads with kids in the back. If you’re able to travel off-peak, the tickets are often quite affordable (children under 5 years old are free) and kids love taking public transport too. They always get very excited but at the same time, they get bored easily especially if it is a long journey.

I always try to pack as little as possible as inevitably my bag will fill up with lots of items on the way back. So I often just put enough stationery, snacks, drinks and games for two children in my tiny bag. I find the printable kids travel games work well for us. The reason is simple – I need to pack light and with these printables we can use the other side of the paper for freehand drawings and also writing if the children prefer. We also often do various homework such as practising spelling, mathematics or drawing a picture. Ms C loves to draw and she often draws our family. While Mr K loves mathematics so we will often set him some sums to do.

To make sure your train journey runs smoothly, TransPennine Express have thought of a few classic kids’ travel games for you to print out, to make sure the trip is fun for all the family. It is free! Simply, choose from the various games listed on the website and click to download the travel games and print out it out. It including noughts and crosses, dots & boxes and a maze.

I find the dots & boxes very challenging and it can take more than 30 minutes to complete! Mr K had to teach me how to play it and I totally lost it. For this game, it is best to have two different colour pens so that you can see more clearly whose is whose.

Remember to go to their site and download these awesome printables! And don’t forget to stock up on printer ink. The last thing you want is to be rushing to the shops the day before a holiday!
