We Went To Diddly Squat Farm Shop

3 August 2024 by Eileen

This trip was quite an impulsive decision we made after I saw our close friends go there for a burger. It was always one of the places we wanted to visit if we were heading down south, but we never had a chance to drive nearby.

It was a Friday morning during the school holiday and we decided to make a special trip to visit this place with the intention of stopping on the way back to visit a nearby national trust for an hour before heading home. It took us approximate 1 hour 40 minutes (11.15am) to reach the place and we were directed to the overflow car park by the worker. There were already rows and rows of cars parked up.

We Went To Diddly Squat Farm Shop

We took a short walk to the entrance of the Diddly Squat farm shop and were shocked by the amount of people. My friend did warn me that the queue was going to be huge. But it was never in my mind that it would be that massive. There was a huge line of people queuing around the farm shop and we couldn’t t see the end of the line. Then we walked towards the back of the shop where the Hawkstone and Baste Food were located.

As it turned out, there was also a massive queue for the Hawkstone counter. This queue was for buying the beers and food from Baste Food. There was a small queue for an outdoor shop to buy a few of Jeremy’s products like a chopping board, candle, apron and others. For your information, Jeremy was banned from selling products that were not produced on the farm or within a 16-mile radius. Typical council making life difficult.

My children were not impressed at all. It was midday now and the queue was very off-putting, especially with the heat of the day. We spoke to a family and they came shortly after the shop opened at 9.30 am and they had to queue for an hour for the shop itself. It was super busy.

We took a couple of photos around the premises and left. We will plan it better next time with just Mr C and myself. Forget bringing the children along. They are very difficult to please. Also, check the Diddly Squat social media accounts as they will post info if the car parks are full or the stocks are gone, etc.

clarkson's farm 3

Clarkson’s Farm was first released in June 2021 and it was an instant hit! It was so funny, but at the same time, I can appreciate how farmers work so hard to feed the country! It was quite educational learning from Clarkson’s antics. Nevertheless, Kaleb always puts a smile on my face, especially with those stupid arguments he had with Jeremy. Poor Lisa had to endure all the mess! Charlie, who is Jeremy’s agronomist, is so knowledgeable and resourceful. As for Gerald, I am glad he is well now but I can never understand what he is saying without putting the subtitles on. Sometimes even with subtitles, I still don’t understand him at all.

After watching his third season, I cannot wait for the fourth series, which has already been commissioned for 2025. We’ll make plans to visit again, or if not, will order some of his products online.
