Geometric Door Designs

1 March 2023 by Eileen

Recently, I have used Washi tape to create these amazing geometric designs to update my cupboard doors. In fact, updating the furniture has been on my mind for many months but I had put it off. I finally mustered the courage to work on it and I’m really happy with the result. It is so affordable and the results are amazing.

Geometric Door Designs

I bought the solid foil Washi decorative self-adhesive tape from Amazon and they cost around £3.40 for each roll. The more you buy, the cheaper it is. The size is 15 mm by 10 m long. What I like about this tape is that they are so cheap to buy, easy to apply and to remove. Whenever I made any mistakes, I could just pull them off and reapply again. The colour and the effect look so striking too.

My Dining Room Furniture

We bought this Ikea furniture a year ago and it looks quite stylish but boring. So I used the gold Washi tape to wrap around the door. I did my research on Pinterest, but I didn’t like any of the ideas. So I decided to freestyle it. It is so easy to trim to size, but it also means it can tear easily too so you have to handle with care. It took me an hour just to wrap and trim. I’m delighted with the outcome. The tape makes the grey cupboard looks so modern and stylish.

Bedroom Cupboard Doors

When we bought this house in 2019, the wardrobe’s doors were made from a smoky mirror and they were very hard to push open. I guessed that the doors must have been at least 30 years old. We decided to have all the wardrobe doors changed to white shaker-style wooden sliding doors. They are so much lighter and easy to push. It also looks more up-to-date.

After seeing the amazing results from the dining room cupboards, I decided to purchase more Washi tape to update the bedroom cupboard doors. I used the solid silver Washi tape for the smaller room and the solid pink rose Washi tape for the guest room. Again, I freestyled it and I’m proud of the results. I only wish I’d done it earlier! All I needed were Washi tape, a pen knife, a ruler and a stepping stool for reaching the higher points.
