Ohuhu Art Markers Kaala Series Review

9 February 2023 by Eileen

Picking the right tools will definitely elevate your artwork, but there are so many art supplies in the markets and it is hard to choose from. This is why at Ohuhu, they invest heavily into research and development to ensure that quality would never be compromised. They offer vibrantly rich and easy blending, alcohol-based inks that dries instantly on your artwork, and also water-based inks.

Ohuhu Art Markers Kaala Series Review

For their alcohol-based ink art markers, they have four different series: Honolulu, Oahu, Kaala and Molokai. For their water-based ink art markers, they have Lanai and Maui series. They have sent us three sets of their Kaala series, which have a dual-tip design of both thin (fine 1 mm) and broad (slim chisel 1-6 mm) tips. In this series, there are four different sets of colour tones: Skin, Basic, Landscape and Illustration.

In each set, it comes with a plastic carrier box containing a range of art markers, one colourless blender marker, one plastic pad sheet, one colour chart, one blank coloured chart and a booklet. As you can see from this image, I have filled in the blank coloured chart with the ink. It will give you a better idea of how the colour tone will look like on paper.

Each art marker comes in a luxury designed shell casing that is so smooth and comfortable to grip hold. Each was marked with the colour name and their number on the side of the art marker, and also on the top of the board cap. The shape of the marker is narrow rounded for the fine tip and boarder rounded for the board tip end.

Removing the caps, sometime can be tricky, as it is smooth and when your fingers have no grip (very dry skin like myself), it is hard to remove. I would definitely not recommend chewing the cap off!

I am not artistic or good with drawing, hence you can see some of the messy test doodles using both tips. The consistency of the ink was smooth and consistent, even with rapid strokes and hatching. I love the way the tip glides through and the ink dried instantly.

The large varieties of colours give me the opportunities to be bold to suit my creative urges. The range of colours work so well for what is said on the box like the skin tones, landscape, buildings, objects, food etc. These art markers certainly feel great to use and produces excellent results. It offers great value for money and would last for a long time, as long as you replaced the cap as soon as possible. For more information and to buy, please visit https://ohuhu.com
