This Christmas, if you are looking for a stocking filler or secret Santa present, then check out this computer clip-on phone stand from Kikkerland. This lightweight adjustable clip clamps on either the left or right side of your monitor. It can also be placed upright on your desk. It is great for the office or if you work from home.
It comes with a silicone spacer, phone stand and clip. The product measurement is 3.1 cm by 5.8cm by 6.8 cm. To swap the phone stand to the right or left side of the monitor, simply squeeze the top and bottom (on the clip) to remove it from the phone stand. Flip the clip-on over and insert it back into the phone stand by squeezing the top and bottom again.
According to the manufacturer, monitors and laptops should be less than 2.5cm thick. My laptop monitor is 0.8 cm and I have to use the silicone spacer with the clip before clipping onto the monitor. The silicone spacer is to ensure sufficient clamping pressure and avoids screen scratches. Without the silicone spacer for the clip, it will not hold onto my laptop monitor at all.
To insert, pull and open the computer clip. I found this quite a clumsy process. Then release the clip and push it to the end of the monitor. Now it is ready to use. It is compatible with phones with a thickness of up to 1.5cm. There is a gap on the phone stand for you to insert your charging cable.
Once it is clipped, it holds onto the monitor very well with no scratches. You can swing the phone stand (vertical angle adjustments), but I don’t think it works well. When I swing it out, my phone fell out of the phone stand due to the tilt of my laptop monitor.
