10 Reasons To Redecorate Your Home

12 April 2022 by Eileen

When was the last time you looked around your home and decided it was time for a change? There are many people out there that go years between redecorating their homes, and if that’s you, you’re not alone. Your home is your castle and you should decorate according to your mood and personality. There are statistics out there that show that homeowners redecorate in every five years or so, so if you’re coming up to that time and you’re getting tired of the colours and patterns you have on the walls, you’re not alone.

10 Reasons To Redecorate Your Home

Redecorating takes a lot of planning and time, and if you consider that some of the changes are going to be permanent, then you should think about the fact that you should plan the redecoration room to room. There is no specific time frame where you should make changes to your home, but you should consider the fact that your house is going to be beautiful when you do give it the once-over it needs. From changing the walls and the floors to simply adding new rugs from cowhiderugslondon.co.uk, you can bet that any interior design changes that you make are going to enhance the house. Redesigning your home should be fun, and we’ve got ten fantastic reasons that you should redecorate your home – now.

  1. It’s behind the style times. Given that the chances are your last home decorating spree may have been a while ago, the home you’re living in is likely to be behind the times. You need a style update, and that means putting together plans to make your home look better room to room. The latest interior trends and styles are there for you to explore, but you can always come up with your own style ideas if you want to. Remember, your home is going to reflect your personality and your tastes.
  2. You’re having kids. Is there anything more fun than decorating a nursery? Sure, the baby won’t be using it for six months, but for the first six months the nursery is for the parents! It’s a place to unwind and rock the baby to sleep, to feed in peace and to change the baby. Decorating it for your new baby is a great reason to start decorating again and it gives you a reason to start pinning pictures on Pinterest or go shopping for things with neutral colours.
  3. You’re renovating. Whether you are expanding your house by adding an extension, or you are adding a granny flat in the backyard, you have the perfect reason to start redecorating again. Renovation in the home always requires you to plan redecoration because you’re going to have new and bare rooms to fix up. Painting the walls, adding flooring and installing new fixtures and fittings are going to be needed, so get planning decorating if you’re going to renovate.
  4. You are changing your lifestyle. Everyone grows and changes and if you’re upgrading your lifestyle from when you were in university, then you might find that redecoration is the thing to do. As children grow, their interests change, too, which means that their rooms will need changing, too. As your own interests change, your home decor will need to change, too. You’ll upgrade and change your kitchen or you’ll redecorate your bathroom to include a spa bath. Life changes often push you to be more mature and with that comes more mature tastes.
  5. You’re looking to sell your house. If you want to increase the value of your home, redecorating is always an excellent idea. Your house is the best investment that you will ever make and that will include the decoration that you do so that you can upgrade its value. Redecorating is a responsible way to nurture your investment and the bigger home redesign projects add more value. Even something as simple as making the flooring downstairs seamless will change the value of your home.
  6. You need an overhaul. In your personal life, things are changing and you’re upgrading your career at the same time. So, upgrading your home room by room is another way to overhaul your personal life. The bigger changes that you have in life will be accompanied by a feeling of peace because you have made positive changes. How you feel when you’re at home matters, and renovations and redecoration can enable you to take pride in the space. If you are in need of change, then being in charge of redecorating your house is a good place to start.
  7. You really need to declutter. There are times where you need to gut out the entire house and start again with decorating, and decluttering could be the best thing that you do for your home. Not only will it feel more organized, but you can get better storage solutions and model display cases to make everything look great. You need to redecorate because you need to clear everything out – redecorating breathes new life into the house! You might think keeping things out of sight, out of mind is a good idea, but you have to reorganize and declutter sometimes to make the house look good. Purging your house of the old things can really help you to get a fresh perspective when you redecorate.
  8. You can find new inspiration. If you decorate your home over again, you are going to feel inspired! You get to let those creative juices flow and plan the rooms one by one to redecorate so that the house really does suit your tastes. You get to feel inspired by other houses, or trends that you have seen online. You can take that inspiration and splatter it (literally) across your house! Expanding your style is a good thing and you can really show off the house again once each room is done. Inspiration is really powerful as a driving force, particularly where home redesign comes through!
  9. You really need to update. Is the house looking dull and lifeless? Don’t worry, it’s one of the same reasons that many people choose to upgrade their homes. A lifeless and dull house can make you feel lifeless and dull. Worn out carpets, chipped paint, stained ceilings: no one wants to live in an environment like that. You should be able to redecorate your home in a way that makes it look like you are cleaning things up and brightens the home once again. Your home can always use an update, and you should look at it as a good way to add some light into your home again.
  10. Because you are bored. This is actually the most popular reason to redecorate: you’re just bored! You’re bored of the colours, of the carpet, of the style of curtains you currently have. You’re bored of the flow from room to room and you’re simply ready for change. You can hire someone to come in and help you to decorate, but you can also go it alone and plan the entire house top to bottom on your own. If you’re bored of the way your home looks but your budget isn’t as big as you’d like it to be, you should think about planning just to decorate a room at a time. You need to think up projects to work on and you can then work on these one by one.

Decorating your home is going to change the way that your house looks and feels. It’s also going to help you to feel good about your home, too, which is what you deserve. Changing up your home is a good thing to do this year – so why not get planning?
