Geomag Mechanics Loops & Turns Review

22 September 2021 by Eileen

We are no strangers to the Geomag Mechanics range as we have previously reviewed the magnetic race track system. This outstanding gravity magnetic track harnesses the invisible forces of magnetism and gravity to create chain reactions for never-ending surprises.

Geomag Mechanics Loops & Turns Review

This unique educational set comes with 130 pieces and is made up of magnetic rods, steel spheres and elements of different shapes, such as cylinders and modular parts. This STEM system (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is an ideal set to teach children about gravity, magnetism and fun and to watch the cannons shoot the sphere around the track. It is suitable for ages eight and above.

I love the quality and the vibrant colour of the set and there are no sharp edges. Best of all, 74% of the materials are made from recycled plastic. It comes with easy to follow instructions to help you to build the basic track to start with and with plenty of extra materials for you to create your own.

Ms C does find it hard to slot a few items together and so needs a bit of my help. It wasn’t too difficult but it does need strong nails to push it into the slot. Once built, the set doesn’t take up too much table space. I do find that it is best to place the set on a hard floor or table for better stability than on carpet. Once built, the track looks awesome to play! Of course, they do have plenty of sets for you to expand the tracks, like the Rack Track, Gravity Motor and Elevator Circuit.

Now you can just drop and watch the magnetic cannon run using the invisible forces of magnetism and gravity, without using electricity or batteries! The reason why it can run over and over is because there are spheres inside the circuit. These spheres are set in motion by an innovative magnetic cannon that uses the force of attraction of the accelerating magnet. The play experience is based on these fundamental principles of physics.

Geomag magnetic race track is a STEM-inspired toy that combines the classic marble run with modern twists! You just need to drop one marble and you can watch how it use its forces to launch the other two marbles and catch it by the magnetic catcher.

Once you have finished playing with it, it is easy to dismantle and pack away. When assembling and disassembling the tracks, it is best to be careful to not use too much force. Simply lifting a corner of the track away from the slot and the track will come off easily. It is a shame that the box is not made to be resealable so we used a plastic zip lock bag for safekeeping.

This is a fun set and you can always expand the tracks with other compatible sets. it will make a fantastic gift for anyone! You can get it from good toy retailers, online and The Entertainer.
