Are you scratching your head with what to do with your children for the rest of this summer or how to get them learning something new each day? Then why not get them a few puzzle and quiz books for them to do one question a day to keep their mind sharp! We all love solving puzzles in this household and have numerous puzzle and quiz books on our shelves as they are always packed full of witty questions!
We were thrilled to have received these four puzzle and quiz books (Mystifying Mind Benders, Tantalising Brain Teasers, Mensa Test Your Logic and Mensa Test Your IQ) from Carlton Books for both our children to do one question a day. They are all available for pre-order and you can get them from the 8th August 2019.
First, we have the Mystifying Mind Benders hardback book which contains 125 riddles, conundrums, lateral thinking teasers to challenge your solving skills. Each question is well-phrased but they are not very easy to solve. We’ve been racking our brains to try to find the answers! I find the questions are very general and suitable for all ages. Older children should be able to understand easily and solve them on their own.
The Tantalising Brain Teasers hardback book contains 139 riddles and puzzles aiming to challenge every aspect of your puzzle-solving abilities. From geometry puzzles to chess problems with a difference, puzzles of everyday life to many more. This is aimed at older children and adults. My children did find it quite hard and I found it very challenging too. But it is definitely a cracking book to have!
Both of these books are quite small and handy to take out with you to keep yourself or your children entertained!
Next, we have two Mensa books where one is to test your logic and the other one is to test your IQ. Both books have over 350 colour illustrations. For the Test Your Logic book, it comes with three sections: easy, medium and hard puzzles. There are over 400 logic puzzles and problem-solving aimed specifically at improving various aspects of logical thought and lateral thinking through puzzle-solving and problem confrontation. Each question takes a while to solve as they are not very easy at all! We have to solve them together and some questions we have to skip as it is quite hard to explain especially to Ms C. These questions help boost brain activity and improve concentration and memory!
Last but not least, we have the Test Your IQ book which contains 20 tests that assess your IQ with information and tips on how to make the most of your intelligence. This is a series of IQ tests that have been created by Mensans, with the aim of specifically improving your problem solving and pattern recognition skills. Each test contains 20 questions. Do you think you can beat the expert? I would recommend this book as you can do the tests over and over again!
Do a question a day will help to improve your problem solving and IQ! You can now pre-order these from Carlton Books (spend over £20 to get free delivery), good book shops, online and Amazon!
