How Can You Get From Nightmare To A Buyer’s Dream Come True?

21 March 2019 by Eileen Leave a Comment

If you are thinking about selling your home, you might be wondering how you can turn it around from a nightmare, into a buyers dream come true. It is not going to be an easy task, but we have put together a list of ideas to help you out here. If you are interested in some of the simple ways that you can turn your home into a completely new place, take a look down below!

How Can You Get From Nightmare To A Buyers Dream Come True

Make It Into A Blank Canvas

We suggest that you make your house into a completely blank canvas. What we mean by this is that you should take any personal items down from the walls, paint everything white and ensure that it feels like a show home of sorts. You might be wondering why this is something you should be doing, and the answer is simple. You want the people who are coming to view your home to see themselves living there, having all their furniture in the rooms, having their personal items hanging on the walls and so on.

If they can’t do this, they are less likely to make an offer to purchase your home. As such, you should work on removing all personal effects, having them boxed up and put away in storage. This is not going to be forever, so don’t worry about putting them away for a little while because the sooner you sell this home, the sooner you can buy and move into your new one!

Ensure There Is Minimal Work To Be Completed

Any potential buyers are going to want a survey completed on the home before they purchase it. This is going to pick up any major issues with the home such as problems with the foundation, asbestos, mould and so on. You want to make sure that there is as little to do as possible so that when the survey does come back there are no surprises on there. What we mean by this is make sure that all holes are filled in, that any issues you know about such as leaking pipes are fixed and any damage to the home has been taken care of.

Some people make the mistake of trying to hide these problems and selling the house as if they do not exist. But, if the survey comes back and exposes the issues, you could be looking at an offer that is quite dramatically under your asking price. This won’t happen if you have gone through every inch of your home and ensured that there are minimal repairs necessary, if any at all.

Consult A Professional Before Putting It Up

Finally, you might want to consult a professional. You are going to need to look into estate agents anyway when it comes to selling your home as these professionals help you to get it on the market. Before you do this, the best thing that you can do is to hire a chartered surveyor to complete a thorough examination of your home. Once this has been done, they will give you a full list of things that you need to do before you put your house up for sale. The benefit of this is that you will know everything is perfect when the time comes to sell, meaning that a quick sell is more likely!

We hope that you have found this advice useful, and now understand some of the ways that you can turn your home from a nightmare into a buyer’s dream come true.
